[Inside the Clinic] [~12:00 am] [CLOSED] Gai, WatsonspandexisyouthMarch 29 2011, 09:26:00 UTC
[They'd wound up gathering more than enough candy, and since Kakashi didn't have much of a sweet tooth Gai had some sweets to pass off to others. Catching sight of the clinic, Gai beamed. It was the perfect place. People had to be on duty there and they'd missed their chance to trick-or-treat. Cheerfully he headed in.]
Reverse trick-or-treat! [He kept his voice down, though there was some excitement in it. There was no telling who might be recovering, and he didn't want to disrupt anyone who might be healing. Gai wandered, looking for people stuck inside working.]
[Gai jerks at the bite and focuses on staying calm despite the pain and adrenaline. Thrashing around trying to get Watson off of his arm would only harm Watson. Gritting his teeth, Gai finishes securing Watson's paws. There. At least, once he gets free, he can worry about his injury and not have to focus on the dog.
Feeling the pressure decrease, Gai attempts to pry the dog's mouth open to get his arm free. He's losing blood and needs to see to that; the jaws are rather large. Thankfully, though, Watson didn't hit the artery. Gai's got some time. He can be careful with his friend. And maybe figure out how the heck to get Watson back to, well, Watson.]

[As soon as his arm is free Gai's grabbing the sheet that had served as his ghost costume, wrapping his arm as tightly as he can manage with just one arm. He pauses mid-wrap at the question, turning to look at the dog with a puzzled look.]
Do to you? I will do nothing. You are my friend, Watson.
[While he knows that Watson can't be aware of his surroundings, Gai figures it makes sense to answer. He kneels, out of reach of the dog's jaws.]
I will do nothing except be here, and try to find a way to help.

[He does hear differently from Gai, which makes him cringe. Watson does not know to know if dogs are capable of weeping. He will not! His pride and dignity will not suffer that blow. But he keeps his eyes shut, and after a short moment, it seems that he's lapsed into exhausted rest.]
[He's barely down a few moments when he changes back to being human. Which is damn uncomfortable, being hogtied.]
What-- [And blindfolded, even. One of his arms didn't go into his shirt properly. He immediately begins squirming in panic.]

[Gai has more-or-less secured part of the sheet around his arm when he hears the question and looks over at Watson. Seeing a human form, he blinks and quickly pulls the pillowcase off.]
Watson! Are you you?
[It's a stupid question, but he's not sure how else to put it. He reaches down to be ready to untie his friend, based on the answer. Gai really doesn't want to be attacked again by someone he couldn't bring himself to actually fight.]
[He blinks around stupidly for a moment, looking up at Gai with the most confused expression on his face.]
What in the world are you talking about? [And then he remembers his dream, wonders at the taste of blood in his mouth, and blanches.] I dreamt of being in the factory again. Did I--- [Sleepwalk? Say anything in his dream? He feels so inordinately rumpled.]
[Relieved, Gai quickly unties Watson one-handedly before trying to put his belt back on.]
I do not know what this factory was. But you were... not yourself.
[It's a polite way to say that he had a break with reality. And while it's not something Gai really expected here, he knows what it's like to be trapped by genjutsu, by illusion.]
You did not have the freedom to do much. Do not worry about it. Are you all right? I apologize for any bruising.
factory* Sorry for the late, LJ was always dead. :cstalwartcaneApril 5 2011, 13:30:02 UTC
[He bites his lip under the moustache, before gently unraveling the makeshift bandage.]
You're a good man, Might Gai, and much too kind. Thank you. [He lets Gai's hand go to get to his own feet with a wince, righting his clothing where he could.] I shall tend to it while we wait for the first of the patients. No doubt we do not have very long to wait.
[And that, Gai, is kindness in itself. Watson only returns it with a smile, before he's shaking his head to deny Gai's own apology.]
Oh, no, sir. [Retrieves his chair, and sits down.] This limp is a very old injury, and it aches from time to time. [And then there is the one on his back, but it's the leg that hurts more. Watson brings a wheely table over for his supply of antiseptics and gauze, and gestures for Gai to return the arm to him.]
Oh. I see. [A pause, as he holds out his arm for Watson to see to.]
Do you mind if I ask how old you are? [There's definite maturity there, and Gai wonders about Watson sometimes. He doesn't actually know a great many older people due to being a shinobi. Life tends to be on the shorter side. But as he can't place an age to Watson, Gai is kinda curious.] If it is not too rude. And you do not have to answer.
[It stung, but it was supposed to. And yes. The teeth were quite large. Gai's very glad he'd kept his throat clear.]
Forty. Congratulations on that. [He wonders if he'll get there. Gai intends to, but there's no telling what the war will bring.] I am thirty. You have done medicine for your whole life?

What will you do to me? [The voice seems to come from nowhere. At least, Watson's mouth isn't moving.] You might as well destroy me.

[He pushes himself up to sit when he's freed, but he spots Gai's arm soon after.]
You-- did I hurt you? Please let me have a look. [DDDD:]

[The tone of Watson's voice says he doesn't want to speak about it, and so Gai won't pry. He looks down at his arm at the question and holds it out.]
It is just a bite. I am not upset and I have had much worse.

You were not yourself. It is not too much kindness to forgive someone for something that they could not help.
[He frowns as Watson winces.]
I am sorry back. I was a little rough.
[Not as rough as he could have been, but probably more rough than Watson is used to.]
