For timeline's sake, pretend this is later in the afternoon. novelvision March 26 2011, 15:07:22 UTC
Tassadar was not the only one who intended to study the intricacies of this festival called Halloween. As it wasn't time for his patrol duty yet, Katsura had decided to wander the streets in order to observe the festival quietly, and he couldn't say if he actually understood the significance of the event even after having had Spirit and Kurapika explain it to him. As far as he could tell, it was a day like any other, only that children were wearing disguises and alternately begging for candy and threatening to trick vendors.

After walking for a while longer, Katsura spotted Tassadar also observing some children. He recalled that the alien had wanted to learn more about the cultures here so he decided to move over to where Tassadar stood to talk to him. "Good afternoon, Tassadar-san!" he called out from a slight distance. "Am I bothering you?" he asked loudly, not quite realizing that it wasn't a normal thing to do.

"I've seen the other guests wearing costumes, so I would assume that the festival can be openly celebrated by everyone," he replied, blinking. Now that he thought of it, just what could Tassadar wear?

'I see,' he murmured thoughtfully. If it wasn't something that would offend the humans, then possibly experiencing this Halloween ritual himself could help further his knowledge of their behaviour. 'If that is the case, then it would be an honour to partake in the ritual of Halloween.'

"Oh, that is brave of you, Tassadar-san! I would have liked to have participated too, but I couldn't find the material for my costume."

Now that he had agreed to it, Katsura was determined to find something dignified for Tassadar to wear... Except, Tassadar was still a ten-foot tall alien. What were those other people wearing again?

"Your size may be a disadvantage, but I know of a costume that would fit you," he remarked finally. "Tassadar-san, do you have any color preferences?"

He couldn't quite understand why attempting to wear the ritual garments would be considered an act of bravery. Each time he believed he was beginning to understand human behaviour and customs, something new seemed to present itself to him.

'It appears as though you are thoroughly prepared,' Tassadar murmured in response. 'Does colour signify a different aspect of this ritual?'

Depends...what did you think it was? novelvision April 10 2011, 06:58:42 UTC
"I have been studying this festival for the better part of thing month, Tassadar-san. If I had been more thoroughly prepared, I would have had my costume ready for today but I lacked the material and the time," Katsura replied, still looking intently at Tassadar.

A sheet would be perfect, but it would require some adjustments, he thought.

"I don't think so, but it appears that white is the color of choice during this Halloween. Tassadar-san, might you have any objections to that color?"

'It is unfortunate that you did not have the time to properly prepare for this event,' he said with a subtle nod. From what he could gather from Katsura's words, preparations for this ritual took far longer than a month. It was an interesting concept to consider, and it further proved to him how dedicated the terrans could truly be.

Then I have no objections to the colour white being used, Katsura Kotarou," Tassadar murmured before gesturing for his companion to take the lead.

"It is unfortunate, but I would not have time to participate in any case," he replied before continuing on. "Let's find a fabric shop, Tassadar-san."

Inclining his head, Tassadar gestured for Katsura to lead the way. He had never experienced a fabric shop before, and the templar found himself curious to see just what it entailed.

Katsura nodded once to acknowledge that he would be leading before beginning to walk. He found one ten minutes later but as he walked towards it, he had a sudden feeling that he had visited the store before...

"Please wait outside, Tassadar-san. I'll be back shortly," Katsura said to the templar before entering the store.

Following, he far from minded the silence between them, and took the opportunity to continue studying human social interaction when it came to Halloween. The few children he sighted appeared to be doing much of the same as the initial pair he'd been observing. Yet as he was comparing the differences with each encounter, Katsura's voice drew his attention.

'Very well,' he murmured before remaining outside while his companion entered the store.

Katsura emerged from the store a while later carrying what appeared to be a lot of cloth. "I'll have to measure you, but I think this should be enough cloth for your Halloween costume, Tassadar-san," Katsura said, studying the alien intently.

Tassadar regarded the material in question, and idly wondered just what Katsura was planning on doing with it. Inclining his head, he said, "Is there a ceremony or ritual needed to properly prepare the material for use?"

"Eh?" Katsura looked at the cloth and then back at Tassadar. "There's no ceremony or ritual involved, I will only need to cut the cloth so that it will fir you."

No ceremony? The concept left him momentarily quiet in thought. It appeared as though he would simply have to put his trust within Katsura and observe what was to come.

'Very well,' he murmured before gesturing for Katsura to take the lead. 'Then we will locate the appropriate tools in order to divide and shape the material.'

"There will be no need to do so, Tassadar-san. I already have the necessary tools to shape this material," Katsura replied, wondering how would he look like once he was more clothed.
