Brock had been out buying candy for the imminent influx of trick or treaters who would no doubt be showing up on the doorstep. He'd been amused by many of the varied costumes he'd seen so far today particularly the sexy police woman and nurses he was seeing everywhere..

He noticed Tassadar watching the children running around the streets. There were the usual witches and vampires and ghosts running around, with a smattering of black cats and skeletons amongst the group. Brock smiled as he wandered over to Tassadar. He hadn't seen the large alien in a while.

"Happy Halloween, Tassadar," he said cheerily, looking up at the alien. Still trying to get used to the extraterrestrial, Brock couldn't tell by the expression on Tassadar's face if he was happy, sad, angry or bemused. Hopefully the first or last.

Tassadar was pulled out of his observations by a familiar voice. It had been quite some time since he'd last seen Brock, and he was pleased to see that the young human was doing well.

Turning his glowing gaze onto the young Weapon, the templar tilted his head to one side curiously. 'Is it customary to greet one in such a way on this day?'

Brock still had to get used to Tassadar speaking telepathically. It was a little unnerving. He blinked at the unexpected reply. "Well, yes. I guess you don't celebrate Halloween where you're from?"

His gaze remained impassive, as it always did, while he regarded Brock. Until he'd arrived here, he had never heard of the concept of Halloween within human society. The terrans in his sector of space had no such traditions, and he wondered if it was one of many things they had lost along with their homeworld.

'While we have our own traditions and rituals with honouring the dead, we do not have anything similar to this Halloween you speak of,' Tassadar offered before his attention shifted back over to the children collecting their treats.

Aqua was fascinated as well. While they had celebrated Halloween sometimes back at the Land of Departure, it was never to the scale that it was here. Partly because there were as many people, but also partly because they didn't have enough time.

She hadn't gotten a costume, since she rationalized that she really shouldn't be spending her money on frivolous things like this. Then again, with hair her colour...

She stopped when she saw Tassadar and gaped a little. She had never seen anything so tall that hadn't been an Unversed.

He couldn't quite grasp the concept of food being necessary when it came to communing with the dead - let alone what children had to do with the ritual. Perhaps it was more to do with their age and sense of an open mind that lured the souls out? It was entirely possible, but he would need to further study the ritual.

It was during his observations, however, that he felt the gaze of another on him. Pulling his glowing eyes away from studying the food transaction, Tassadar's attention shifted over to find the one in question. It didn't take long, and soon enough, his gaze fell on what apeared to be a young human female.

Tilting his head to one side curiously, Tassadar's thoughts stretched out into her mind. 'What you see holds no connection to the fesivities the day represents,' he spoke before any questions about his appearance could be asked.

She jumped a little when she 'heard' the voice. She gaped.

For a moment Aqua was torn between embarrassment for being caught and bafflement because he doesn't have a mouth.

But then it occurred to her that she had met another on the network who spoke without a mouth too. In fact, this person looked similar to Selendis, but it hadn't occurred to her right away since she had only seen her on the network, and as such didn't know that she was this tall.

Aqua smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry. I was just...surprised."

Tassadar didn't need to enter her thoughts to know that she'd been startled. It was a common reaction when humans met a protoss for the first time, and so he took no level of offence towards it.

'I see. You are not the first nor will you be the last,' he finally said in response. 'You are new to this planet?'

[After observing the interactions, Tassadar begins to head back down the street again. He continues to travel until catching sight of Edgeworth further on ahead.

Approaching, he slows to a stop before inclining his head in greeting. He notices the handful Edgeworth has, but doesn't comment just yet.]

En Taro Adun, Miles Edgeworth.

[The bowing is something he's slowly getting used to by humans, but it still takes him by subtle surprise each time.]

Indeed. Although, Tassadar is satisfactory.

For timeline's sake, pretend this is later in the afternoon. novelvision March 26 2011, 15:07:22 UTC
Tassadar was not the only one who intended to study the intricacies of this festival called Halloween. As it wasn't time for his patrol duty yet, Katsura had decided to wander the streets in order to observe the festival quietly, and he couldn't say if he actually understood the significance of the event even after having had Spirit and Kurapika explain it to him. As far as he could tell, it was a day like any other, only that children were wearing disguises and alternately begging for candy and threatening to trick vendors.

After walking for a while longer, Katsura spotted Tassadar also observing some children. He recalled that the alien had wanted to learn more about the cultures here so he decided to move over to where Tassadar stood to talk to him. "Good afternoon, Tassadar-san!" he called out from a slight distance. "Am I bothering you?" he asked loudly, not quite realizing that it wasn't a normal thing to do.

He found the exchange ritual a curious one, but Tassadar had been unable to figure out the necessities behind it all when Katsura approached. Catching the swordman's scent on the air, the templar pulled his attention away from the children as he glanced down to regard the young human.

'Your presence is always welcome, Katsura Kotarou,' Tassadar murmured in greeting. Turning to face his companion, his blue eyes momentarily flashed a bright yellow as he asked, 'I trust that this festive day sees you well?'

"I don't know. It appears to be a good day, but I would not say that it has been festive for me," Katsura replied. The business with Date aside, Katsura had had some issues with children asking him for candy wondering if he was wearing a costume as well.

"Are you observing the traditions of Death City as well, Tassadar-san?" he asked.

Katsura's answer was one Tassadar could identify well with. It was a human tradition, after all, and one of many he did not understand. Still, it was an interesting one to consider, and he made a mental note to research it later.

Nodding his head, the templar gestured over to the children who were done and moving onto the next shop. 'The ritual of giving small food offerings to children is intruiging, and yet I cannot discover a reason behind the action.'
