Takasugi hung around at the edge of the training grounds with ill-concealed restlessness. He and Okita had agreed to go to the usual morning session for breakfast and some warm-ups before heading off on a mission. Their first mission, and the first time they were going to put their newly minted partnership to the test. To say that he was excited about it would be an understatement.
It also went without saying that he needed this. Takasugi was the kind of person who needed to feel useful - needed to feel like he was doing SOMETHING - in order to function. He had not felt that way since his arrival in Death City, and Gintoki and Katsura being around had made things worse rather than better.
Now, though, he wouldn't have to think about it at all.
The boy pushed himself off of the tree that he had been waiting under for the umpteenth time, shifted about, looked around, then settled back all over again. Honestly, he couldn't wait.
