Perfection came in many forms and for Nea, it was this. It was the silently laughing moon hanging high up in the night sky, its hollow eyes watching as he followed Allen Walker back to his little hole-in-the-wall apartment. Yes, this was only the beginning of what this city had to offer him. He kept his distance from the boy, his nephew, as he followed him through the dirty streets of Shibusen. Well, it could have been more accurately described as watching him stumble around the city in circles before he finally happened upon the the building he was living in by some stroke of dumb luck.

They made all the way up to Allen's door without him realising, suspecting or even casting suspicious glances over his shoulder. He had walked so far with a shadow tailing him, and yet-

Careless.As soon as Allen pulled open the door of his apartment-first floor, unit 1G, almost directly underneath his own apartment. It must have been fate-Nea struck. This was it, this was the perfect chance to see what his nephew was made of ( ... )

Careless. That was about right, or maybe naïve in that he hadn’t expected to be ambushed like this. He had his suspicions but had brushed them off as impossible. Or maybe just plain stupid was the best, he didn’t want it to be possible, didn’t want to think about what it meant.

Allen had spent so long relying on his Innocence for fighting that his instinctive reaction was still to invocate, even knowing that it didn’t work in this place. It slowed him down a few seconds, too much, time that he couldn’t spare. His attacker drove him into his room in that moment, while his mind was still processing what was happening. Noah.

That whisper was going to stay with him for a while, cling to him the way his shadow had. Allen was glad that he’d received the combat knives from the Watch, reaching for one with his free right hand while he twisted to drive his elbow at his attacker. He didn’t care if the hit connected or not, the only thing he wanted was for them to let go, get off him. Out and away, with that man so close Allen ( ... )
