She goes up to his room, knocking on the door first before she goes in.

He does both, and shifts his head slightly in his half-sleep.

She puts the chart back, and goes up to get a closer look. It probably won't tell her much if anything at all, but it still might be a good idea.

Kurt's eyelids open slowly - they're still really heavy - but once he sees that it's not a nurse, it's Kanaya, he quickly closes his eyes again. His heart starts racing - what does she want? Is she here to tell him what an idiot he was? Is she here to say "I told you so"? That doesn't seem at all like something Kanaya would do, but Kurt wants to call himself an idiot, so it's not too far of a leap to think that maybe other people, even friends, would agree with him.
Hopefully she doesn't notice he's awake. He tries to remain still, and keep his breathing even, despite his nerves.

Sighing, he types out a response for Shizuo:
Restless. Fairly crappy, overall, but mostly restless. They say I can probably leave tomorrow, as long as I come back for daily check-ins.

Dug has met all sorts of interesting folks in his first day or so in Death City, but he hasn't been able to find his master Carl anywhere. Everyone had been so sure they'd find him soon; it's a bit discouraging to go so long without seeing him.
But Dug is not the sort of dog who gives up easily! He searches the city, sniffing high and low, investigating every elderly man and loud boy he comes across. Eventually he finds the clinic, and his ears perk up. It smells medicinal, a lot like the home his master visits often! Maybe he'll finally find the old man in this place.
He gets in through automatic doors, nose to the ground, sniffing intently with his terrible sense of direction keen tracking skills. He follows his imaginary trail down the hall, right into Kurt's room, and under his bed apparently without noticing the sick kid.

It was probably the painkillers. They were probably hallucinogenic.

He takes a couple more whiffs. Blood, medicinal smells, this human is injured! Every dog worth his fur knows that when a human is down, they must be comforted. And so, Dug's face breaks into a happy smile and he sits down by Kurt's bed.
"Hi there!"

Kurt's mouth falls open in a little "O", though he can't speak so it just sort of... hangs there. For a while. Eventually, he moves his hand to touch the dog's snout... just to see if it's real.
Oh. Apparently it is. At least this is just an aural hallucination. That probably means he's slightly less crazy than he'd originally thought.

He stepped over to the bed with a friendly smile and pulled up a chair. He always thought it was better to create a friendly, calm atmosphere for patients rather than a formal clinical one.
"Hi there Kurt. My name's Brock, and I work here at the clinic. You probably won't be able to talk for a while, but I'll be here if you need anything. Feel free to buzz me anytime," Brock grinned and tapped the buzzer near Kurt's bed. "Is there anything you need now?" he asked.

Nice to meet you, I guess. I think I'm fine for now, but there are a few questions bugging me. Are you a doctor?
Reply
"Well, you just let me know when you're in pain, and I'll give you some more morphine," Brock replied in a stern voice. "Don't try to suffer through it."
"I'm not a doctor, more of an doctor's assistant, or a nurse. My partner is a doctor though. Her name is Naomi," he answered his question with a smile. "I've been working in the clinic for a while now."

Still, he nodded yes, and typed a new reply:
I see. I'm just curious about how successful the surgery was. How well it went... and when I'll be able to talk or sing again. Also, if it left a scar. I bet it did.

Reminded him of what Adachi might have done. And for that one, brief, horribly moment, he was so positive that it was Adachi that he was scared out of his mind. But he had stayed by his side as long as he could, staying in the waiting room during the surgery. They'd given him a chair so he could sit by his side. And he had only taken some time to go back home, change clothes, shower, try not to look as exhausted as he did.
When he got back, it looked like Kurt was still sleeping. He just went and sat in the chair he hadn't moved from for hours, waiting for him to wake back up.

His eyes widened immediately and without thought, he was reaching over, desperate to touch him, happy to see him, and infinitely sorry to have obviously worried him.

"Hey. Looks like someone's finally awake," He said softly, keeping his eyes on him, and trying to ignore the bandages at his throat, as well as his other scratches. It was already bad enough, but at least his eyes were open. He'd been staring at a sleeping face for too long.

After a long moment of just holding Souji's hand and staring at him with what he was convinced was his sappiest, stupidest smile to date (and yet, his most genuine one so far that day), he mimed with his free right hand writing on a his blanket, hoping Souji got the message.
Texting while one hand wasn't free was hard, but he could manage writing on paper, assuming there was any nearby.
