It had been a spur-of-the-moment decision, but not exactly one Suzaku foresaw disliking. It'd been mostly to distract from the day to day of Death City-- a distraction that was needed now and again, whether or not he would admit it to himself. With missions somewhat out of the question (he couldn't go leaving Euphie alone, not with what had happened last time), going somewhere in the city with someone didn't sound like such a bad idea ( ... )

He yelped at the greeting, totally not anticipating Suzaku being... right there. (Which was kinda silly seeing how they had agreed to meet, but...) With his inherent clumsiness, he almost dropped the DEMISE and only caught it by chance with his frantic scrambling. Thankfully, it closed shut in the process, because Romano did not really want to show Suzaku how directionally incapable he could be.

After that embarrassing display, he tucked the DEMISE under his arm, with his expression a mixture of sheepishness and attempted nonchalance.

"... Hey," Romano replied, rubbing the back of his neck and just knowing that probably did not make the best of first face-to-face impressions.

Of course, face-to-face, he was starting to realize that some things did feel a bit different than over webcam. Like how Suzaku was actually around the same height as him, if not taller. And how Romano had in fact assumed the guy to be in his late teenage years at the least, by the guy's mannerisms, but Suzaku actually did look it in person ( ... )

A good asumption, I'd say. (8 Fff, Romano. <3 livelyhood August 7 2010, 08:23:05 UTC
For Suzaku's part, he didn't smile over the flailing and almost-drop of the DEMISE -- he might have, if he had been a year younger, but as things were, it was only the twitch of amusement on his face that gave away the fact that he... pretty much was grinning over it all, on the inside (hey. it had looked funny. he was just pretty sure that Romano wouldn't appreciate it all being pointed out, what with the sheepishness afterward ( ... )

Romano was, likewise, determined to make the slightly stiff air disperse. Being a nation and all, he had had many uncomfortable situations with meeting people such as rulers, kings, royalty, and the like. He never did like awkward encounters, and he definitely knew that he didn't want to make this one of them.

He caught the smile on Suzaku's face though, and although he didn't smile back, his expression definitely did become much more relaxed. "Yeah, sure," he replied, with a willing tone. "We'll just see if anything looks okay. Maybe not restaurants, with the shitty shortage and all, but..."

With a small huff, he started walking in the direction he had noted while studying the map, expecting Suzaku to follow. Again, he found it odd that he couldn't find it in him to be antagonistic towards the guy. Usually, it was the easiest thing in the world for him, but... for some reason, being mean to this kid would feel like kicking a puppy or something. He couldn't describe it, but it was a bit like being around Veneziano, only that he was ( ... )
