...Well then maybe furry trench coats ARE cooler after all. 8|untilitstopsJuly 17 2010, 06:16:12 UTC
Resigning himself with disgust to the fact that he couldn't kill enough frogs to make a dent anyway, Sano reluctantly took up Izaya's strategy of sidestepping as many as he could. At least they weren't very FAST.
Then again, Sano has the glasses to make up for it...loves_humanityJuly 17 2010, 07:19:12 UTC
The frogs weren't fast, but damn if they weren't insistent. Izaya led, not that he was particularly happy about that, and toyed with the idea of leaving Sano behind.
"Nothing stays forever, huh?" Izaya laughed a bit, "well, at least the frogs won't, either..."
Those glasses ARE his main charm point. Trufax.untilitstopsJuly 17 2010, 16:35:40 UTC
"And they do clean up after themselves so neatly," he agreed, watching another stomped frog disappear into smoke. It was their only redeeming feature, but that one was worth something. It wasn't escaping his notice that they didn't seem to be getting much less concentrated, though, and he eyed the other man with brief skepticism.
They aaaaaaaaare. And them long legs, too.loves_humanityJuly 19 2010, 19:06:45 UTC
Izaya noticed a wave of smaller frogs coming in to annoy him. That wasn't the problem. The problem was the gas the little buggers were letting out of their backs.
"I suggest, my dear," he said, mockery warring for concern as he stepped back with larger steps, "that we hightail out of here. I'm afraid I'm not interested in a second date with a corpse."
So it balances out that his coat isn't furry? :|untilitstopsJuly 19 2010, 20:58:20 UTC
"How discriminating of you." His tone was still casually dismissive, but his eyes narrowed at the new wave of amphibians. He didn't like the look of these ones, and every available weapon--street lights, abandoned vehicles--was beyond his ability to heft without the momentum he'd have from his AT. Abandoning his efforts to act nonchalant, he hopped backwards with alacrity as the frogs advanced.
Clearly I should have keyworded with Shakira.untilitstopsJuly 20 2010, 02:50:51 UTC
"Hardly. I would think you should be more worried about keeping up!"
Although his boast was undermined by the fact that he couldn't lead, as he didn't know their end destination. Even so, he was disinclined to be rescued by (or worse, appear weak to!) someone he'd just met. Scowling somewhat, he focused on the task of keeping one eye on his companion and the frogs off his back.
"And you'd abandon me just like that?" Izaya taunted, trying to make his way to the street corner.
A lot of frogs were following them, but most continued their rampage towards the condos where the guests were hosted, which made Izaya keenly aware of the strategy in this. And frustrated again, at being caught in it when he could have been sitting back and enjoying the show elsewhere.
"And here I am, selflessly guiding you to safety..."
S-sob when this mental association becomes permanent... D:untilitstopsJuly 21 2010, 03:32:30 UTC
Glancing over at him in mild displeasure, it occurred to Sano to the first time to question if he could have left the other behind, even if he intended to. He was hardly one to question his own abilities, even with the handicap, but the confident attitude--a familiar one, if he was honest, which he saw no need to be--made him wonder. Briefly.
"Of course. I'm unlikely to forget such a generous act." Question his motives, certainly, but not forget.
Well as long as that isn't casting aspersions on his figure he's chill with it :|||untilitstopsJuly 21 2010, 20:22:21 UTC
"And how might that be?"
Smiling brittlely as he stomped one of the slimier-looking frogs into the ground, Sano moved aside briskly in case it decided to explode after all. Absentmindedly, he scraped his foot along the ground, wondering at what point the frog guts would begin clogging the wheels. How distasteful.
We love you, Sano, don't worry. Even with your mighty, truthful hips. ;Ploves_humanityJuly 22 2010, 11:04:20 UTC
Izaya winked as he twirled, the arm holding the blade tracing an arc that was soon filled with smoke. They were making progress, slowly, but it was progress nevertheless.
Well... we love you too Izaya. Even with your pimp-yakuza coats and your cellphone neurosesuntilitstopsJuly 24 2010, 05:48:11 UTC
"How flattering. I'd be delighted, I'm sure."
Sano smirked back at him, nothing of the sort. Even given the circumstances, he would have preferred to avoid falling into anyone's debt at all--let alone so quickly. But then, any manner of forming connections could be used later, so it would be tolerated.
I HAVE A NEW HOBBY!loves_humanityJuly 24 2010, 21:12:38 UTC
"Isn't it just so?"
Izaya found that his companion frog-mowing skills were getting a bit too good. Now, that wouldn't be good, would it? There had to be some kind of impact on this.
"I just hope I can compete with your lovely redhead girlfriend," he twisted away, to avoid more bites. The frogs were thinning, as they got further away from the condos, but they ones that remained were fiercer. "I have to work hard to best the competition~"
Somehow that just bodes ill for everything. :|untilitstopsJuly 25 2010, 04:29:39 UTC
"My...?"
Sano twisted in midkick to glance over at Izaya in surprise, though he had smoothed his expression into cheerful neutrality after a moment. The only person that came to mind was Spitfire, and while he couldn't deny the amusement of the mental image, the idea that a complete stranger knew anything about his personal life or connections was... irksome.

"Then we should move, shouldn't we?"

Izaya snickered even as he started to slash more frogs, realizing he'd have to open the path. How... bothersome. He was missing the show.
"But don't expect me to carry you off in my arms!" He laughed as he avoided a bite aimed at his face.

Really, he wouldn't need to, if Sano hadn't crashed his party, but now he had no option but to put up a convincing show.
