Zatanna couldn't quite make the girl(?) out. Her name was Naoto, but that didn't help. She thought it was a woman's name, but... well, Japanese could be a very strange language and she didn't have her magic to back her up (lucky her -- oh, there was that irony again!). The brunette had arrived only a few minutes early, though she had intended to be there at least ten or fifteen minutes ahead of time, but once again, she had underestimated her ability to navigate anything, even with a GPS.

Just another reason to loathe her lack of magic.

Zatanna smiles and gives her host a little wave upon entering. "Sorry. I hope I'm not late? I'm still not quite used to this place." Barely even a week here, so her timing was pretty fantastic. "Any chance you could also give me a rundown of what happened?" She says, approaching the other. "I've been told a few times, but never anything substantial."

Naoto looked up at Zee's entrance, her eyes momentarily hard dark chips until she recognized the individual. The young detective's face softened then, her hand easing away from the old-fashioned revolver on the desk-top.

"Zatara-san, correct? You're here to see Crane?" The short young woman stood, her attire and height making her look more like a small boy than a high-school girl. Nevertheless there was a maturity about her expression, a long-possessed professionalism that contrasted sharply with anyone's natural assumption to assume she was actually nothing more than a child.

"It's quite alright, I wasn't expecting you at any particular time. Crane has had many unscheduled visitors." Her serious eyes showed a spark of annoyance at that, a note of teenage impatience. Naoto was still young for all that she played the role of mature detective very well.

"Zatanna is fine," she near-immediately responds, eyes quickly darting to the weapon. That's what she did, after all. Catch the little things.

Making sure that the detective was aware who she was and that she meant no harm, the brunette mage moves forward, approaching her generous host. "I see. Unscheduled." That could go so many different ways -- the curious, the angry, and hopefully not the sort that were fascinated enough by him to help him. Crane usually worked alone, sans the occasional expendable lackey. However, the Scarecrow most certainly wasn't her area of expertise. Sure, she'd read his JLA file more than once (mostly skimming) and gone up against him a few times... but it was usually in a group. No, her specialty in recollection would be the Big and the Bad: the Joker, Darkseid, Amazo, Despero, Starro... a lot of o's, there.

Aside from them, it was the magicians and demons that she kept tabs on. Neron, Etrigan, Tannarak... Nergal. If only Bruce were here. He'd handle it so perfectly -- he'd know what to do. He'd have a ( ... )

"His motives and his methods." Naoto said without hesitation. "Any insight you can give us into those areas would be more than we already have. He has been entirely closed-mouthed since we imprisoned him here. I am hoping that be seeing someone familiar, someone from his own world, Crane might offer information out of pride or friendship ( ... )
