"In this small apartment where she used to love me, I just sit here as my life goes by." chaotic_daemon June 13 2010, 19:50:14 UTC
He walked up a flight of stairs, sans cape and the metal guards on his boots. One part of his mind was wondering if he should cut his hair, and the other was mulling over his previous conversation with Tseng.

After he had turned the communicator off, Vincent had sat for a long time, starting out the window with his arms crossed and face expressionless. There had been no-one goading him to make this choice. No-one to tell him it was stupid. He had made this decision. And he wasn't one to back out of things. Sure, it might have taken him a month to decide to play a more active part in this war, but since had he said to Tseng that they were meeting..he was going to go even if it was making him feel strange.

He reached the top and pushed the door open. Twenty-one hundred, sharp. He made a point of always arriving on time.

Tseng was earlier than he, though, standing at the, looking out. The man turned when he saw Vincent, and he jerked his head to one side in acknowledgment.

But of course Tseng was early. 'Infuriatingly punctual' was a theme he liked to stick to, and the Turk was nothing if not consistent. His stance changed well before Vincent appeared, but he did not turn, opting instead to smirk slowly when Vincent came out on to the roof.

"It's good to see you again," he said without sounding quite like it. "It's been far too long." He didn't have to look at his watch to know that the numbers had just turned over to mark the hour. Deep down inside, Tseng was glad for someone dependable again. It was one of those things a man missed, in a place like this.

He hated that smirk. A lot. He grunted and walked out, shoulders and face stiff.

"Pity I cannot say the same," he replied, coming to a stop a few feet away from Tseng. The air was hot and stifling. Cottony. Vincent hated these days. At least Tseng was on time--he was glad for that one thing.

There was an unmistakable atmosphere to the place. It had Tseng rationing his breaths into little puffs so that he wouldn't miss a cue from the man behind him. But he was, as always, impenetrable and aloof, so he still did not turn and he still did not move away from the edge.

Tseng was never one to waste words, especially if his company wasn't the type either. He kept up the silence and offered only a deceptively serene facade, which translated well enough into, Your move, Vincent.
