Not that he particularly doubts Heine has the desire to. Not after last time, ripping away from him when he was so desperate to kill that Giovanni could taste the bloodlust between them, his escalating rage and that downward spiral towards something dark and familiar, pulled out from under the ground. For a few moments as they exchanged bullets and dropped cartridges like bodies, surrounded by the deafening blasts and the roar of voices dissolving into white noise, Heine had almost been the Heine he remembered from that long, long time ago, back when he didn't wear his teeth down or push them inwards. Back when his mouth wasn't soft, and he didn't hold anything back.
There had been nothing he wanted more, in that moment, than to rip Giovanni apart. Giovanni was under no pretenses, and although some part of him - that insufferable, shattered part - still thought of it as a bad thing, the metal in his spine told him something different. Giovanni was indeed wearing all the remnants of battle scars on his clothes, that much was undeniable, but Heine's attention is drawn more by the nature of them, the sense that he knows them and yet doesn't. It looks just like Heine's own handiwork, but he should be able to mentally pick out the causes--which shots fired from his hand sailed and burrowed their way furiously into Giovanni's flesh, where Heine's fingers may have ripped fingers through the expensive tailored material hugging Giovanni's body... And.
What stops Heine in his arrogant stride and wipes the smirk off his face completely was not seeing Giovanni's fur all ruffled and matted with all the bearings of Heine's teeth marks without the memories to go with them, but something that he finds is, all too suddenly, staring him right in the face.
