[ ah, what a spread! spring rolls for starters, with chicken curry, salmon, shellfish, various steaming vegetables, brown rice, green tea, black tea, even jie tea, and a curious... black blob? oh, no. sea cucumber. stir-fried. ]

[ the table had been elongated to fit everyone, but it was still a bit close. both western utensils and wooden chopsticks would be placed at each plate, yes-- and it'd taken a bit to set up, but there it all was. ]

[ come take a seat? China might've already claimed one. happily. (he was the oldest, no denying that). ]

[Hong Kong took a seat across from his older brother, closer to the door- if the older nation had taught him anything, humility was one of them.

He didn't touch the food, until everyone was seated, looking over the meal to see if anything was out of place.]

She was free to refuse, if she wanted to sit beside one of the girls. Maybe they made her feel more comfortable.]

[Japan shouldn't have agreed when Taiwan had invited him to China's place for dinner. Despite what she said, there was no way to know whether China actually knew he would be coming. Even less, whether he would actually want him there, once he'd arrived. What Taiwan's motivation in inviting him might have been, it was impossible to know, but ( ... )

[Hong Kong looked up from setting the table, heading over to check the door while everyone else talked or helped bring the plates in from the kitchen. He paused as he set his hand on the handle- there was only person missing right now after all.

Shrugging off his wariness, he opened the door, greeting Japan with a nod.]
