Characters: Altair ibn La-Ahad and Kamui ( Monou Fuuma ).
Location: Pool.
Rating: PG. Warning for thoughts of anger and amusement.
Time: Evening.
Description: Water allergies and kind-hearted charity-workers. You'd never think they'd mix. Mostly because neither of those things actually exist in these characters.

There's always been a large preference of showers to baths. )

Kamui was coming home from a late grocery run. He was going to decide against going this late, what with the news on Jonathan Crane and all, but after taking a look at his pantry, he decided that things were running a bit low. His list wasn't really that long, just the basic things that he and Nataku needs. Nevertheless, he does feel a certain responsibility for himself and Nataku, and he's resolved to take care of them now. So off he went, and slipped into Death Robbins for a bit of dessert, and happily went on his way home ( ... )

It was, in all actuality, quite terrifying. No, Altair wouldn't admit that, but it was becoming harder and harder to breath, as if his lungs were crushing in on themselves. Furthering panic had him moving all the more, but he was too busy straining to touch ground that was just barely there and feeling as if the rest of him was just dead weight.

Now, Altair wasn't at all one to give up his strangle-hold on life, especially not in a gaudy place by the name of 'Death City,' but his layers of robes and odd weapon or two finally weighed in. And so down he went.

More than anything, that was the worst feeling in his life. Even compared to his "death." The reflex was the breath - but, again, water proved to not be like air, so now he was choking, which hurt even worse without air, pathetic pathetic pathetic-- he would have maybe yelled for help, at that point, just to get out.

After a long run, Kamui has concluded that the noise was coming from inside the hot springs. This made him pause a little.

One, if he entered it, and made the wrong kind of entrance -- no matter how well his intentions looked at the moment -- he would look really really bad if he ended up trying to save someone who was not in a position to be saved. And he will not be looking forward to the subsequent announcements in the PDAs ( ... )

This wasn't at all how he'd imagined himself 'leaving the world.' A rush, maybe; something quick and unseen. Not something so horridly slow. It gave far too much time for thoughts to sink in, and with the lack of air, those thoughts didn't tend to extend to the most complicated of ideas.

Such as pride. Pride was (nearly) completely forgotten, when something suddenly appeared at his right and started pulling at him; Altair didn't exactly have the arm-strength to latch on, but he did try to fumble for a hold, recognizing a lifeline when it came, though not so much what sort of lifeline it was. Opening his eyes was a mistake, but not one more important than when they breached the surface, finally.

He hadn't realized just how hot the water was until the cool air sunk itself into his skin and clothes, but he didn't have much time to appreciate the lack of scalding; his eyes got their wish of being closed tight, reflexively coughing and choking even more (though this time, there was air, so there wasn't a reason to be quite so panicked ( ... )
