[An image of a petite young woman appears on the screen. Her dark hair is tied into loops atop her head and she wears a
pink and red outfit reminiscent of ancient China. Oddly, her clothes and hair look damp, as if she had recently taken an unplanned swim. She frowns a bit, uncertain about the magic mirror, this morbid city, and the whole situation

It is that simple. One need only wait until it is over before we are returned to our world. There is no reason to get overtly upset about this, either. Things cannot be changed and so there is no reason to care too much about it. While there are things in your world that need to be done, in one-hundred years time, I doubt that those things will still matter. When one thinks in those terms, one can find other things to occupy their mind with.

[She shakes her head.] That simply isn’t my way of thinking. In governing, planning for the future is important even if it’s beyond one’s lifetime. And the assignment I was working on was extremely important.

[A soft laugh as he makes a dismissive gesture, even if she can't see it.]
I think that you are better worrying about things that are worth worrying about rather than worrying about things that cannot be changed or helped at the moment. It is but a waste of effort.

[Have a man wearing a strange blue and white shinny suit.]
I arrived here this morning and I didn't see them, you could ask the WATCH, they might know if they are here for sure.
What's a peacock?
Reply
[She smiles slightly.] That’s a good suggestion. I’ll have to ask later if no one knows.
And a peacock is a bird with showy tail feathers. [She supposed they might not have existed in this man's world.]

Ah...and what's a bird? And feathers?

A bird is an animal with wings. And feathers… [She thinks for a moment how to explain if the man had never seen a bird before.] They’re soft things that cover birds. Do birds not exist where you come from? [She looks a bit curious. It's hard to imagine a world without even chickens.]

[She nods.] Yes, that has been mentioned. I was more trying to understand why BREW chose me when my skills are elsewhere.

Investigations, paperwork, and bookkeeping are the type of things I actually have experience doing. Would that actually help somehow?

This one is sorry, Shuurei-dono. There's no voluntary way back, as we know, though you do not have to fight if you do not wish. You may be lucky, though, and perhaps your friends are either here or will arrive soon to join you.

Oh, I didn’t expect there would be someone else with a similar scar here! Lord...? [trails off, not sure of his name] My friend’s scar was on the same cheek but smaller and right under his eye.
[She nods.] That seems to be what everyone is saying so far. I’m not sure if I should wish for my friends to be here with the war but I am worried about them because of what happened before I woke up here.

[he quiets to listen, nodding along]
That I understand. This one has friends as well whom I would rather not be involved in a war, but as it is all I can do is hope they stay out of danger. What sort of thing was happening when you came here?

What is a rurouni? [She had never heard the term before.]
We had an… [She gets a somewhat pained expression remembering what that crazy peacock did.] um… an incident with our boat.

I'm afraid there's really no way back immediately. Many of us would like to go home as well...

Yes, unfortunately, that seems to be what everyone is saying. Have you been here long?

I've been here since about October. So a couple of months now.

[Maybe, if the others aren’t here, they’ll continue the mission without me. I would feel a lot better if I could go back though!]
