Um... My father talked to me! ...Sometimes. And...really only if it was about computers. He didn't really show much interest in me, until I started really getting into computers and electronics...

But... they left me. I came home one day, and they'd just left without saying anything. [A pause] My father stayed to say good-bye, sort of...

[She'd started this blurb about her father in an attempt to show they weren't all bad, but. It's not...really working. Though for Lain, her father talking to her at all had been considered amazing]

They... were just actors. They were paid to pretend to be my family--they left every night after I went to sleep for their own lives... so I guess they just didn't care about me. It's easier to abandon someone if you don't have a connection to them.

...My father said he was...jealous of a 'being like me'... So I guess... [She trails off and shrugs helplessly.] I guess I can't really blame them.
