I don't think it's too much to hope that nothing horrible will happen. Even if it seems unlikely... Christmas is associated with "peace on earth", isn't it? It's natural that someone would want to hope it stays like that throughout the season.

You're quite right. I'd accept any Christmas over none, but I'm afraid if it weren't peaceful, things would seem a bit... off.

You're from a place where Christmas is celebrated, eh?

I am! It's not a very traditional holiday in Japan, though. Christmas Eve is mostly a time for couples to spend some quality time together. Families also exchange gifts on Christmas day, but there aren't usually any religious meanings behind those celebrations.

Couples? Odd... I've always thought of it as a romantic time of the year, but not that romantic. But I didn't think that Japan was very populated by Christians, so I can't say it surprises me very much.

I wasn't planning on it; besides my lack of interest, I'd look horrible.

Can't agree any more with you on that. This place has already enough traps as is.

Again with the "traps"... I'm not sure what it means, but I am not one of those.

[sigh]

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus, God's son, and one type of traditional decoration is a depiction of the place he was born. It's called a nativity scene.

[Really, what is wrong with people when they're talking about presents more than about Jesus?]

And I'd like to ask you to refrain from using such language, at the very least when talking about holy things such as this.
