Hello Death City. [Stripperella smiles wide. She is sitting at a table, a cup of coffee by her side. Ahhh, having free time is such a rarity for her]

Before anything, I wish to welcome all the newcomers. I hope, despite the current troubling situation, you all find your accommodations pleasant. My name is Stripperella (or Erotica Jones, if you ( Read more... )

[She said two words that caught and held his attention: "security" and "User". He stares at her for a long moment, surprised, his purr low and thoughtful, before switching to text.]

Security?

Yes. Shibusen is currently at war with a group called the Witches. [group? Perhaps she should call it "race", but the Witches looked so human, so it was hard to] It just crossed my mind if the DEMISE network we use to speak with other people could be accessed by the Witches somehow.

The thought worries me a bit.

Did something happen? [Tilts her head at her.] I know we have some good hackers with the guests, yeah? But maybe the Witches aren't good with technology...

No, not at all! I'm just thinking really.

After the last attack, I've begun to worry a lot more since so many people died. I feel like if we had been even more careful, perhaps we could have avoided that.

Well, anything to make sure people don't die anymore is good, yeah? But I dunno about the whole hacking part. Doesn't Shibusen monitor the network?

Yes, but it doesn't necessarily mean they can see who is accessing it or not. It could be someone pretending to be someone else. Or there could be spies.

There have been spies before.

[Very serious look from Hungary. This is a very valid point.]

These communicators are also infused with magic so really, I'm not sure how much the technology part actually has to do with it. There might be something in that to keep the witches out.

Then more of a reason why we should worry about this sort of thing more.

Yes, but it worries me that the Witches can also use magic. I don't know if the two would be compatible.

I'm afraid you would need to ask someone with more Magical knowledge, really...but I'm sure Shibusen has thought of something.

You can't hack into it without being connected to the network, and the only way to connect to the network is via the communicators. [looks down at his own for a moment] We're pretty updated where each communicator is with -- that is, who has every piece that we've given out. When people die or get returned to the BREW, we send someone to retrieve their devices.

[pause] A breach isn't impossible, though.

[Video] erostripperella June 22 2011, 23:33:30 UTC
So you can actually track who has communicators? That's good. [though also a huge invasion of privacy |: oops]

The fact that isn't impossible worries me, however. We reveal a lot of important information through the communicators, it'd be problematic if that information was leaked to the witches.

Well, when we give them out, we list down who gets them, yeah? The accounts are embedded in the communicators, so no two devices are alike, either.

[nod nod] We're aware of that. We've been tightening security lately, although it doesn't help when people modify their stuff or hack each other.

However, it could be stolen. Or accessed by someone else when they aren't looking. When I'm working, I can't have the communicator with me and I realize it's a breach of security right there.

And it's not good to restrain things too much, for it will originate paranoia.
