If I owe someone a debt, I have to repay it. It's common sense. This is... an odd debt, however. I am not comfortable with it.

[She raises her eyebrow minutely at Claire's choice of words. They are hardly insulting, given that she herself is an anomaly by not being able to speak. His attempts to backtrack cause her lips to twitch faintly in amusement, but she smothers the expression as quickly as it began and chooses to focus on the more pressing issue here.]
Why did they not take that away from you? My knives were taken before I even knew they were gone.
[And she doesn't look pleased about it.]

Yet without their aid we have nowhere to stay, and nothing to eat. Eventually their debt evens out and we are left in theirs. This is a complicated situation.
