Simply put, whatever powers or abilities you had are gone and have been replaced with powers from this world. You're either a Weapon, which can transform into a specific type of weapon or a Meister, who can wield a Weapon.

As for swords... I believe young Nill is a sword, as well as a Japanese citizen called Kanji Tatsumi. [thinking] There is also Genesis, and perhaps China. Swords seem to be popular weapon forms here.
