[ There's no video feed this time, just voice. And there's no "accidental" video either, Iceland had make sure that he didn't accidentally punched the video button again, like the last time. ]

I've found my Meister ability. It's nothing special, but it's not so bad. It's something I expected anyway. [ Slight pause. ] I wonder if anyone here had the ( Read more... )

What is your ability, anyhow?

I think it was called "Icy Soul".

[ If he remembered correctly. Need to double-check to the library soon, when he's allowed to leave the clinic. ]

...Hm. Sounds like the elemental opposite of my own ability.

I can freeze the enemy temporarily. You can...burn them?

What does your ability do, then?

[aaand...]

... Did you forget to wear a hat, aru?

Freezing the enemy temporarily. Nifty, right? [ It's what saves him from being decimated completely... ] Obviously. We're going to Egypt's house on impulse, so I don't have time to fetch a hat.

On impulse? You did not prepare at all, aru?

[... waaait--] Did you have to learn that ability of yours on the very battlefield?!

Well, I've brought sunglasses, but that's about it. [ PREPARATIONS ARE FOR SISSIES. ] Obviously. Did you think I've rehearsed first or what? Of course not. Where can I get a replica of a flesh-eating crocodile-headed mummy? In the grocery store?

[ /sarcasm, snorts. ]

[Hans Christian Andersen?]

Is... that all he'll talk about?

[ Man, he's a decent writer, pretty awesome even, but Iceland would never admit it. At least in Denmark's face. His writers are better anyway! ]

Yeah. That's why I warned you guys about it. You don't want to die because of Hans Christian Andersen over-excess, right?

If I might ask you, first-- what who exactly is Hans Christian Andersen?

[ Are you trying to make Denmark cry, Suzaku? Anyway, this means a massive pause for dramatic purpose. ]

He doesn't exist in your world? [ LE GASP. ] Well, he's one of Denmark's people. To be more specific, a writer, and a famous one at that. He wrote fairy tales and stuff. He became famous because of those fairy tales he wrote, and- you could ask Denmark to recite his entire biography if you're really curious.

I've never had to try it myself, but I've read that tea can be helpful for treating sunburns. Putting used leaves on the burn, that is, not drinking it... although drinking it would also be a good idea, psychologically speaking.

I see. I'd consider that, although I don't think I have any tea back home because both me and my partner preferred coffee over tea.

[He frowns a bit. Coffee is gross.]

I'm sure you could find an appropriate cream in the stores as well, although I wouldn't be able to recommend one.

[ If Jules ever said that out loud, both Iceland and Nura would give him a good smack in the head. Coffee is the drink of the gods. ]

That's okay, I'll ask one of my friends instead or something. Thanks a lot.

Is it that bad? [her voice is sympathetic] Yes, that would be perfectly fine.

[ The other end of the line was quiet for a while. To be honest or not... ]

If it's that bad, I've already dig a deep hole and lived there until BREW sent me home. [ In the end, he decided to be honest. Rise is his friend anyway, she'll understand. ] No, it's not really that bad. [ Slight pause. ] But I've had a couple of...injuries.

[ Minor ones, nothing life-threatening because his Meister ability has saved him from getting decimated, but he'll throw it in just in case she's going to insist that he's fine, then, and that he should go to work- oh wait. ]

Thanks a lot. I wouldn't be gone for too long, only for two or three days.
