Quite an interesting question to ask there, my friend.

[...yeah, that was totally deliberate. >_>]

Is that all you have to say?

[8D But okay more seriously now:]

Personally, I'd that think that depends on what you determine as a friend yourself, I believe.

So it seems.

And what do you determine to be a friend?

Somebody who accepts and loves you for you.

All your friends do that?

I don't have many, but pretty much... Why, don't yours?

I think they did.

Anything else?

Someone who doesn't leave, even when they have no reason to stay.

This answer interests him.]

There has to be a reason. Why else would they stay?

I don't know.

Maybe because they want me to be happy, even when I don't.

Doesn't everyone want to be happy?

Friends help each other, and when one of them walks down the wrong path, it’s a true friend who stops them, even if it means they end up fighting.

That's what I've always believed, at least.

[...wait, that sounds kinda like- ...but anyway.]

What would you say is the "wrong path?"

That's where things get tricky.

Something you know they'll regret later, or something that would end up hurting them somehow, in many cases.

So even friends don't always get along, if they have a conflict of interest. Couldn't that be said of anyone who disagrees with another?

There are a lot of things that go with being a friend. Feeling free to completely be yourself without fear of some sort of judgment is one. Another would be someone with whom there is a mutual respect and care for.

[Well Greed is pretty much himself around everyone, so he kinda glosses over that point. But...]

It's [...] a mutual thing, huh?

It should be, at least I think so. If it's all one-sided and one person doesn't care in the slightest for the other then someone is going to end up hurt at some point.

Is that right.

Winry, are we friends?
