The sun rises as usual with nothing out of the ordinary in the sky. It’s still there, eying everyone with its glinty grin. Today looks to be a good day. Food shortage looks like it’s really over and done with, and the temperature isn’t too hot.
And then, just before noon, the sun’s expression changes to something more ominous... Frowny, and then scared--!
BAM! The entirety of Death City feels the ground shake, as if something large has landed nearby. Just when you think it’s nothing, a series of BAM BAM BAMs shake the city to its core. The heavy feeling in your head follows after -- the Norad mission participants and Greed will recognize it as the madness wavelength.
If you look out and up, you’ll see what’s causing all this. A large man, dressed in tattered strips of cloth, is sitting on top of Shibusen. He’s crouched on the barrier, the usually-invisible wall around Death City buzzing in static and electricity as it fights to repel the attacker. You can feel the power struggle in how your hair stands on end and thunderous sound making the city tremble. If you’ve been attending classes, you’ll recognize him as the Kishin Asura from the telltale three eyes that have suddenly started glowing on the city’s roads, Asura’s sigil.
A high, keening shriek reverberates through the city as Asura continues pounding on the barrier and, before you know what’s hit you, your senses are suddenly, inexplicably overwhelmed by the wavelength. Madness claws at your subconscious, taking over and urging you to let go of your restraints and kill and fight and fear.
Two things happen at the same time: Death the Kid and the DeathScythes appear as small dots on Shibusen’s roof and start attacking Asura, and the guests with strange abilities in their world start feeling some of their powers returning.
Death the Kid fires a powerful shot from the cannon in his hands and Asura recoils. He jumps away with the Shibusen staff in pursuit.
What else is there, in case you’re sane enough to notice? There are tendrils of shadows crawling out of the drainage and bleeding out of the televisions. All the televisions are also displaying static.
