[He sounds a bit hesitant and almost guilty. Hell, he might've made it a voice post instead of video just because he doesn't want to have to face anyone like that.]

Ah...yeah. But anyway, I decided that...well, I mean...I-I'm not gonna ( Read more... )

It's not like you have to apologize.

I just feel like I'm running away, that's all.

They do give you the option, though, so backing out isn't a big deal.

I guess. I just can't shake that feeling like I'm doing the wrong thing, though.

[ the camera's pointed at the sky, but the off-screen voice sounds a bit contemplative and a tiny tiny bit hesitant. ]

You shouldn't apologize.

...Back home, I was fighting a lot. At first to keep from thinking about other stuff, and then because I needed to help protect everyone and keep moving forward.

It just feels like I'm doing something wrong to not be fighting anymore.

This isn't your fight. Why feel that it's wrong?

Because I promised someone that I was going to work hard to be stronger. Not fighting is...well, doesn't that seem kind of counterproductive?

You do not have to fight on the front lines, aru.

But it's still a risk either way, isn't it? And I didn't want to come here at all...why should I have to be dragged into this mess and then fight for them, too?

What else do you plan to do, for the years and years this war will take, in this land that is not your home?

You're living here, aren't you? Not that I give a damn whether one more child throws themselves in harm's way or not, but to claim a war in your current home is none of your business goes beyond wishful thinking.

This place isn't my home. They trapped us all here unwillingly, didn't they? It's more like a prison than anything.

Fine, your prison then. You don't have to like it, but you're still living in it. Doesn't change what I said.

But either way, it's still a fight that had nothing to do with us until they dragged up here, right? Why is it so bad to not want to just go along with it and do exactly what these people want us to do? They're our kidnappers. And how do we even know if this is the side to fight for anyway? They just tell us who their enemies are and we're supposed to just assume that those are really the bad guys in all this?

It's your choice. There's no reason to be sorry.

You weren't pulled here of your own volition.

You don't owe this city anything.
