Thread?

[Besides the fact that she's eyeing that sweet-ass pipe, Envy seems honestly curious.]

You mean like garotte wire or something?

[ Look, but no touch, Envy. And perhaps Tsukuyo ought to have said wire, because she had spider's silk in her head. But that was just it. ]

No. It has to be light and imperceptible, but very strong so that a single or two threads can support a person's weight.

[But it's so nice. And kinda classy. Also don't mind Envy, she's more of a 'kick things in the face' kind of girl than the kind with any finesse.]

That's pretty specific- you sure they can even make that kind of stuff outside of whatever place you're from?

[ Fellow smoker? Ah, then she'll probably tell you where you can buy one. And s'all cool, Tsukuyo's that type of girl too. ]

It is, that is why I am asking. My... [ Noticeable pause here, but plowing on. ] former master used it for fighting. I'm going to learn that technique.

How would you use thread in combat?

[ Pft. She should have used "wire" instead of "thread", huh? ]

... if the thread, or wire, is strong enough it could be used to strangle an opponent. Or as an invisible foothold.

[Hm...thread that can be used in combat?]

I am not sure about thread, though I have always been fond of using steel shamisen strings. I imagine piano wire would also be effective.

[Suspicious? Maybe.]

[ Mm, intriguing. ]

... it is because I had spider silk in mind. My apologies, Kawakami-san. And of course, it should have been obvious, shamisen strings and piano wire... I still have to test both though...

Do you use both in combat?

[He nods.]

I have used both in the past, yes. I prefer the former, though neither are my primary weapon.

[Combining two weapons hidden within a musical instrument was more convenient, among other things.]

[ Curiouser and curiouser. ]

I am intrigued. What is your primary weapon then?

[ ... the urge to invite him to a friendly spar is significantly rising at this point. ]

It's a shame you didn't ask that a few months ago. There was a young lady who was familiar with the use of thread in combat, but she's long gone.

[ Tch. ]

That is unfortunate. But I hope to find someone with a similar knowledge.

... how did that young lady use it?

I unfortunately never saw it in person. [...unfortunately for her, not him.] She told me that she'd some kind of magic that allowed it to be strengthened and manipulated. I'm not very familiar with magic, though.

Magic, huh.

I believe in simplicity. Perhaps something can be found that can substitute magic's effectiveness.

Oh, I'm sure there are tons of positions. And even if not, they'd definitely make an exception for you, 'kuyo!

What'd you have in mind? Making drinks? Waitressing? Being a bouncer? Or maybe a host? They do have that host club...

You never can account for the tastes of bar owners and mothers nowadays. But... thank you.

I'm likely to poison bar patrons with my cocktails. A... bouncer, maybe.

Haha, I'll ask around and see if I can get you in anywhere. I think the Bare-It-All strip club is hiring right now. You and my partner could work together!

My thanks, Haru.

[ Ah, so he had a partner already. As to what kind of partner... ] I hope your partner can keep up with you.
