one. When he first met the boy, Masaru was all raw power and no control, a bundle of energy without any sense of direction. When he was first practising with the teenager, Masaru almost reshaped half of the training grounds. Almost being the keyword of course, since Armstrong prevented it.

Perhaps if it had been anybody else one would have chided Masaru, but Armstrong only gave him a caution and left it at that. He was still young, after all. He would learn in time.

two. It had not been his intention for Masaru to join the Watch, even less so when the teenager had to follow him around due to the Colonel needing to shift him everywhere to make up where the organization was lacking. Armstrong himself didn't mind, but Masaru was still young - he was only a child. He should be enjoying what life had to offer, not following somebody like him around and only knowing nothing but fighting. He understands that this is part of Masaru's life, but still
