Pre-event Planning: Europe Crisis

Sep 09, 2011 22:30

As you’ve seen from the December 14 day change, Shibusen West Europe is in trouble! The unclaimed Alps missions have escalated and Europe is currently in a crisis (connected with the November 28 newspaper article).

Overview:
Several of the Shibusen West Europe bases have been ransacked by unknown enemies and are being held by large, black spheres that Shibusen currently has identified. Nothing is known of the agents’ status. More importantly, the black spheres are spreading Madness significantly around the area, which will lead to an influx of kishin eggs and madness-related violence. Shibusen West and East Europe will be short-handed for a while as they try to fill in the missing agents with their own very stretched numbers. To support their European counterparts, Shibusen bases all over the world will be sending in their own agents to help keep incidents down.

This is where you come in. Out of all the continents, Shibusen North America has the highest number of meisters and weapons. Death City will be posting for volunteers to go to the European bases, and you can comment in this post if you want your characters to go.

Dates and Locations:
Characters will be transported to Europe on the morning of December 17 and will be returned to Death City on the morning of December 23, just before Christmas Eve. Transportation will be through the mirrors.

There are three locations: Lucerne (Switzerland), Linz (Austria), and Liechtenstein. The characters will be posted in the these bases and the surrounding outposts. They’ll be encountering kishin eggs, helping evacuate people, and dealing with madness-related violence in these outposts, though the logistics of the activities will be announced closer to the date of the event proper.

How will communication work in the bases and outposts?
To make things simpler, communication will just work between the bases and its respective outposts without too much problem, but the network will not work between different bases and Death City because of the large amounts of madness blanketing the area. To contact people in another base or in Death City, the large mirrors in the bases will need to be used -- each character will be allowed a maximum of one use per day for a few minutes, as long as they are in the base and not the outpost.

This means that volunteering for these missions will effectively cut off the characters from Death City for the duration of the assignment or until they are forcibly returned to Death City.

We won’t be putting up a new community for European network posts. When making network posts, you will be asked to 1) indicate the location of the character on the entry header, 2) use the tags that will become available at the start of the event, and if possible, 3) put the body of the posts under LJ-cut marked with their location.

Character requirements:
The European mission is highly dangerous, so Shibusen will be setting basic requirements for anyone going to the mission:
► The characters need to be partnered, and they need to have been partnered for at least two weeks in-game, officially or unofficially.
► They need to be mentally strong against the Madness wavelength. This varies from character to character, and we’ll leave that up for the players to decide.
► If you want your characters to go in there only to be taken by Madness or to encounter anything that might injure them, that is all right.*
- For the madness ones, either a no-name NPC or a player character will have to restrain or knock them out, after which the Shibusen personnel there will throw them back to Death City via the mirror to keep them out of trouble.
- For the injured ones, they will be discharged early to recover in Death City.

* The characters may overestimate their hardiness against the Madness Wavelength or insist ICly that they should be allowed to go even if they have not been partnered for very long. That is fine with us, but please note the repercussions detailed above.

Event forecasts:
If your character will remain in Death City, fret not! A smaller event will be happening in America at the same time as the European attacks, which will provide plenty of opportunity for the characters remaining to get into adventures of their own.

Newspaper articles will continue coming out during day change for the next week. The main Europe-related event will happen on the day change of December 19.

Shibusen will be making an IC announcement on December 15 to explain about the situation and to recruit agents.
