It was normal for Ran Fan to panic whenever Ling went missing, but seeing the commotion as she checked the town tonight increased her worry tenfold. And so she had run into the burning building when she reached it. She wasn't quite sure why she had headed into such a place, but somehow she had a feeling ( ... )

Ran Fan wasn't surprised or offended that he had used her to support himself. She still wasn't certain that he was totally well, but they needed to get out of there so resting for a while wasn't an option.

She blinked at him in surprise when he apologized. Why was he saying that? And anyway, wasn't she the one that was supposed to apologize whenever she did something wrong or unsatisfactory?

"...M-Master?" She didn't know what else to say.

She followed him, keeping an eye on the burning building. Ran Fan listened to him, but she only grew more confused as he spoke. What did he think wasn't right? Using her for support?

True, there was never any contact between them except for in dire situations, but this would certainly count. And since it was her job to serve him surely it was all right for her to support him if he couldn't stand. She wondered if he was upset about the way she had carried him as well.

"...Furniture...? I...do not understand, Master." Ran Fan already felt her worry bubbling up as she expressed her confusion. She was supposed to be better than that at this point after all. If she was already disappointing him this definitely wouldn't help.

Ran Fan kept her watch over the structure as she walked just behind him. One false move could still cost them, after all. Ling still didn't look like he was feeling very well and she couldn't help but worry.

...And then proceed to blush after his explanation. She felt herself struggling to find an answer, but all she could remember right now was that she had been told that was not how it was supposed to work. "...Y-You...do not n-need to trouble yourself, Master," she finally stuttered out. Seriously, he was acting strangely. Perhaps he had a fever?

She nodded stiffly despite the fact that she was still behind him. That was what mattered. She could only stop him from doing something if it was going to kill him.

Still frowning both awkwardly and in concern, she glanced at the workers. Yes, that definitely ended any worries she had about this building itself. She wondered what had happened to those people she passed earlier. She couldn't be sure if the prince was the only other person in the building, but... Hmm...

"I-I am fine, Master," she replied. It wasn't a lie per se. She didn't really feel tired right now. But a lot of that had to do with the adrenaline rush that started the second she realized he was missing earlier. And even if she were tired, she couldn't let her guard down.

...All right, this was really strange, maybe he really did have a fever.

She opened her mouth to respond, only to leave it that way for a while as her brow furrowed in thought. Come to think of it, how had she known where he was? Instinct? No, then she would have been saved several panic attacks and lectures from her grandfather in the past.

"...I...I do not know," she finally said lamely.

Her face starts turning red. "I-I see..." she replied. Ran Fan really had no idea what else to say, but nothing didn't seem right either.

He was...praising her? That was good and definitely took one of the loads off her mind. Her expression softens into something that miiight be a small smile, it's still hard to tell.

"Th-Thank you...Master," she finally added very quietly and haltingly.

Ran Fan could hear her pulse pounding in her ears, which made it easier for her to convince herself that she wasn't hearing him correctly. "Thank you, Master," she repeated, more quietly and robotically. That was the appropriate response, right?

She looked at where he was pointing and frowned a bit. She couldn't remember exactly what that was but, "I...do not think those are meteors, Master..." she said guiltily.
