[If Azusa is surprised at the polite greeting, she doesn't show it, and even bows back in the same manner--the stance and the courtesy with which the girl is facing her comfortingly familiar, and deserving of equal respect.] Good morning. I'm sorry for interrupting, but it's always a pleasure to see skill in one as young as you.

[Girl can't be older than what, ten?]

Thank you. This is my clan's fighting style from back home. My father is the clan head, so I've always been expected to work hard at mastering it.

[She allows herself a moment to stretch her muscles while they're still warmed up and haven't cooled down in the chilly weather.]

[Ah, a clan heir. That makes sense. She is reminded of Tsukabi, for some reason--perhaps the same traditional clan structure and traditional practice of passing down distinct fighting styles from one generation to the next.]

What is your name?

[Azusa always tries to take note of the promising ones.]

My name is Hanabi Hyuuga, ma'am.

[Ever polite, Hanabi inclines her head after introducing herself. It's the respectful thing to do, especially when addressing an adult in a position of authority.]

It's very nice to meet you.

[If nothing else, Hanabi's time in Death City has helped acclimatize her to making introductions and small talk regularly. The latter isn't something she did much of in the Hyuuga compound or at the Konoha Academy.]

the purpose of this thread is really just to get Hanabi in Azusa's radar. :'D snipingyourfail November 27 2011, 05:37:27 UTC
I am glad to make your acquaintance, as well. [The name sounds Japanese. Azusa wonders if Hanabi and Tenten know each other--while Hanabi is more dignified, they both have the same focus, they both make her feel like staying for a while to see what they'd do. The girls probably do know each other; she vaguely remembers seeing them talking on the network.]

How old are you, if you don't mind my asking?

I'm ten years old, ma'am. I'll be eleven in March.

[She's still short for her age, but she's always grown in spurts rather than gradually.

As an afterthought, she adds,]

I'm the youngest person in the Watch right now.

I see.

[Ten. That is a bit younger than the age of entry for most Shibusen students. It's not ideal, but she can't deny that Hanabi's case holds a lot of potential, considering the girl's skill and maturity relative to her age.]

Well met. I am Azusa Yumi, one of the teachers at Shibusen. [It is only polite to introduce herself even if her face is known, after all.] And I'm afraid I've interrupted your training. Don't mind me, I was just on my way to the outskirts of the city.

It was very nice meeting you, Azusa-san.

[She hopes she got that right. So many people in Death City introduce themselves with given name and then surname, rather than surname first and then given name as she's used to in Konoha. But this world's Japan seems to use the honorifics that are more natural to her.]

[To have gotten how to call her name right on the first try--she is liking you more and more, dear girl.]

The pleasure is mine. [bows] I will leave you now, and I hope to talk to you again soon.
