It felt like forever since he'd been to a festival such as this one. So many exciting things to do and see, and it was all the more fun because he was there with his two best friends, Riku and Kairi. Riku, granted, had needed considerably more persuasion than Kairi had, but luckily she had been there to help him achieve this.

Next on the list of 'Fun Things to do at Festivals' was ice skating. Sora had never actually done this before, but had been assured it was 'the best fun you could have on a frozen surface in skates', or so a random festival-goer had claimed. He stopped by the edge of the icy water and grinned. This was going to be fun.

Kairi was also smiling, her excitement was pretty hard to contain at the moment. They were finally all together again, and they were trying new things! At least, she assumed it was new to her, not remember what she had done before when she was very small. Stepping cautiously out onto the icy surface, she turned back to her two friends for support.

"Are you ready?!"

Riku stood by the rink, looking bemused, though he was significantly calmer than he was when he first came to the festival. The stress of singing onstage in front of so many people had faded into muted exhaustion and relief and even that was turning into calm.

Being with his friends like this, even just for an afternoon felt like a deep wish that was finally fulfilled. That was enough to make him feel light, smirking as he stepped onto the rink, hands slipping into the pockets of his coat as he skated backwards.

"Maybe."

Sora attempted to hide his surprise (and annoyance) as Riku seemed to step out on the ice and skate effortlessly backwards across the surface. When had he learnt how to do this? Sora wasn't feeling nearly as confidant, but he wasn't about to let Riku know that so he stepped out himself and tried to glide along.

For the most part it was easy enough, although a few times he nearly lost his balance. It was like normal skating he realised, only slightly more slippery. He turned back to look for Kairi, thinking that maybe he should be more concerned with helping her than proving he could do this too. "How are you going?" He called out.

Kairi had watched both her friends try their hand on the ice before tentatively stepping out herself. Putting one foot out, she cautiously eased herself forward, holding her arms out for balance. A moment later she was easing herself along, trying to catch up to Sora.

"Waiiit! I can do this too!" She called, reaching forward to grasp for either of them. This wasn't as hard as she was expecting.

Sora hesitated for a second, she looked like she was doing ok. But she had her hand out, and all instinct told him to go and take it, so he skated over to her and clasped it.

"You're doing great!" He said, smiling.

Trying to balance whilst holding onto someone else was a little bit easier, they seemed to be able to support each other. He tugged at her hand to go forwards a bit further out onto the ice, and since he had found that with more momentum, oddly enough, it was easier to maintain balance.

He braked a few steps away, far enough that his friends would have to move to reach him. It was a good enough deterrent in case either one decided to snag him. Hiding a smile, Riku skated a bit farther, turning away to give the two a moment to themselves.

Since paopu didn't work before, maybe he ought to try mistletoe.

"Riku, you wait too!" She called after him, still inching forward carefully. With Sora's hand holding tightly onto her, she found it a bit easier to move forward. Letting him lead, she tried to not concentrate on each step so much, but it was still a bit difficult.

"This is fun, isn't it?" The question was aimed at Sora, him being closer and all, but it was also directed towards Riku.

Sora turned back for a moment to see where Riku had gone to. Further away? He was such a show off.

He looked around again to make sure Kairi was getting it, she seemed to be doing fine so far. "Yeah, it's lots of fun! Think you want to try going a bit faster?"

"Just like old times." Two cents in, Riku stood where he was, a good enough distance from them both that it would take them a bit of effort to get there. At least he could serve as a goal.

"Going faster might help. Any slower and you'll be going backwards."

"You've done this before, haven't you?!" She called to Riku, moving at a snail's pace. She was getting a bit more confident the more slid foward, but it also helped that she was still clutching Sora's hand. Her other hand was held out at a slight angle, in order to improve her balance as much as possible.

Sora resisted the urge to yell 'shut up' to Riku, as it wouldn't have been polite in front of Kairi, and instead simply yelled; "Hey!" in a distinctly annoyed tone.

He glanced over at her again. She was going pretty slowly, but she was completely new to this, the same as him. He didn't want to push her, but at the same time he didn't want to leave that smirk on Riku's face. He gave her hand a quick tug, he'd try it just the once more. "You can do it, just don't think too much and let your feet glide along." He picked up his own pace, he hoped he might be able to simply pull her along the ice via the appropriate useage of physics terminology. But since Sora had never tried ice skating before, he wasn't sure whether this would turn out alright or not.

"Not really," he called back, watching Sora's form. He had good balance, always did, so if anyone was suited to teach anyone by holding their hand, it would be him.

Turning back to Kairi, he grinned and gave his most helpful piece of advice. "He's got a point. Don't think, Kairi, just skate." She'll figure it out. She was always faster on the uptake.
