[A festival huh? Well, sure beats sitting around doing nothing. Gintoki's just wandering around taking in the sights and sounds.

Depending on when you catch him, he might still be wearing a Santa Claus costume from when he stalked kept an eye on Takasugi, or feeling kinda sick from stuffing his face from pies.]

[This be closed to Katsura] Stalking times, get!

[Being mid-December and all, it was not strange to find one (1) Santa Claus and one (ugly) of his reindeer. It was strange however, to see that they were stalking a particular couple. On closer inspection, these do not appear to be legitimate harbingers of Christmas cheer.]

This beard is freaking itchy, what the hell is this thing even made of?!

They're the best stalkers ever.

[Meanwhile, said (ugly) reindeer is trying to move as silently as he can...on two legs. Seriously, who let these two cosplay Santa and Rudolph?]

It's probably made of the same material that causes you to scratch your nose all the time. And speaking of scratching, stop that. You're attracting the attention of everyone. [Woefully, Katsura's thinking about how his nose is itching but he can't reach for it because it's covered with a red nose.]

Best or worst, I'm not sure..

I doubt this beard is made of boogers. And if people want to watch an old man scratching himself, their lives probably aren't anything special anyway, so just let them watch.

[Still, his fingers cease their movement and his hand drops from his chin. Suddenly he stoops low by his friend, and when he speaks next, his voice is low and forced out in a harsh whisper.]

Shutupshutupshutup, there they are.

Kondo still beats them flat. In what way? It's a mystery.

That's disgusting, and it wasn't what I was referring to- [Katsura ducks as well, thankfully not hitting Gintoki in the process. When he speaks next, his voice is hushed as well.]

Already!? But we're supposed to gossip about them before we actually meet them; that's how it always happens in the dramas! Just what are they doing...

In that Patriot kind of way.

There'll be plenty of time for gossiping when we're finished here!

[And he leans further forward, trying to get a better view...]

Looks like they're just talking for now. Tch. Some teenagers they are.

[And Katsura slowly rises out of their hiding spot to look too. It'd look ominous except that he's dressed like a reindeer and it's not even particularly good; he snorts a little upon confirming Gintoki's observation.]

At the rate they're moving on, I don't think there will be anything to gossip about. Honestly...all of this effort and they're just talking? Tch, I should have just rented another drama!

That's okay, gossip is essentially one big lie developed by wives who otherwise have no life outside of looking down on the skinnier, younger generation. We could make something up too.

And your dramas are all totally farfetched anyway. Where the hell would you even find a girl who's terminally ill and still has the curves of well-proportioned bikini model? The world doesn't work like that.

You can do that if you want, I have no intention of being called a no-life wife. And that's supposed to be artistic license, it looks more tragic when you see a perfectly well girl wasting away. Besides, it'd be insensitive to hire a terminally girl for the part. Her career would never advance and she'll die a miserable death, wondering what could have been!

Artistic license? You mean like how they sometimes bring nudes into an art class and tell the students to sketch it? I don't see what's so artistic about it. It's indecent; who the hell wants their privates stared at by a bunch of brats anyway? [Tangents make the world go round; also he may or may not just have wanted to talk about nude people.]

[Whether he catches on, Katsura is making a face.] You know that's entirely different, and you shouldn't talk about naked people in public, people might hear you! [The effect is somewhat ruined by how the person saying so is still hushing his voice and that his reddening face is mostly covered up.]

Are they doing anything else yet?

[Gintoki is of course going to retort, but he stops short when he notices the pair they're watching begin to move off.]

They're going somewhere. Let's move. [For someone so unwilling to even move off the couch half the time, the way Gintoki moves to their second hiding spot is... commendable. They're closer this time, but not enough to really hear much of the conversation, save for random snippets.]

[novelvision]

[Katsura just nods and moves with Gintoki, somehow managing a decent amount of stealth despite his antlers getting in the way. Once there, he strains his ears and then taps his ears a while afterwards.]

I can't hear anything resembling a conversation. Are we having static intervention in this area?

[silvershamurai]

No static, that's just the fuzz in your head. And get your goddamn antlers out of my face. What the hell are they even for anyway?!

[He swats lightly at the fake antlers but his gaze remains fixed on the pair in the distance. Yap, yap, yap. When were they gonna do something else? Something like--]

O-oi, Zura. That weed above them... isn't that mistletoe?

[novelvision]

I clean my ears regularly, and the antlers are part of tradition! [It's all said rather loudly but then he stops to stare at the weed. Cue blinking, as if it shut him up.]

I-it is. Quick, which one of them did it? It's too coincidental for it to be an accident!

[silvershamurai]

And what are you gonna do after I tell you? You can't just jump in! And dressed like that, you'll only cause twice the problems!

[Ah, Aqua looks like she's seen better days. This is proceeding pretty much exactly the same as in afternoon soaps; it's so cliche it almost hurts.]

Eh? Is he seriously going for it? That smooth little punk!
