While The Northern Lights wasn't one of Faye's more frequent haunts, it was always good to mix things up once and a while to keep things from going stale. She breezed into the building, looking for a place to sit, and grinned when she spotted a familiar figure off by himself.

Well, what do you know? He really was taking some down time. Faye had had her suspicions that he was still working on the sly.

"You know, for a really good vacation, what you need is a beach and a mai tai in your hand. But all things considered, I guess this is makes for a close second."

"Incredibly close, now that you're here."

Roy positively beamed in Faye's direction. It had been too long.

"Evening."

"I'll take that as an invitation to join you~"

It really had been too long, and as Faye slid into an empty seat next to him, she wondered if she had ever seen Roy outside of a work setting. Nothing came to mind, so she counted this as a good change.

"What's your poison?" she asked, gesturing to his glass.

"Scotch, for the moment. You don't come here very often, do you?"

He couldn't remember seeing Faye in the Lights before...

"Always a classic." She pauses in the midst of mentally composing her own drink order and shrugs. "Oh, not all that often, I suppose. You?"

The question carries a bit of a teasing edge to it. At the moment, she wouldn't believe it if Roy said he was a regular.

"Not nearly as often as I'd like."

He caught that, of course. It still amused him how everybody in Death City seemed to think he had always been as work-oriented as he was at present.

"Better start making up for lost time, I'd say."

Faye orders herself a vodka tonic then gives Roy a wink. "Here's to your temporary freedom."

"May I have many more chances to break out in the future," Roy smoothly returned, lifting his glass to his lovely company before knocking back a bit of it.

"So, you're in Death City all over again. You all right with that?"

She laughs. "Do I have much choice? I dunno, I could have done with more of a heads up that I'd be arriving. I like to decide where I go and when, but..."

Faye shrugs and picks up the glass that's placed before her. "This place is as much home as anywhere else." Not to mention she's also free from her debts here, but she'll just keep that little tidbit under her hat.

Well, that was an interesting thing for one to say. Short of the people whom he knew to be dead back in their own worlds, pretty much everyone tried to view Death City and the world of Shibusen as a temporary (and inconvenient) stopover.

"Used to traveling around, I take it."

"You could say that." It's close enough to the truth, after all, without getting into too many details. At the moment, she isn't sure what she really has left to return "home" to, but no matter. Being on her own is what she does best, right? Faye smiles and adds lightly, "My feet start to itch if I stay anywhere for too long."

"What about you? Was it hard adjusting when you arrived?"

"Not really. Part of me was a little glad to be here, even."

At the point that he had been taken to Death City, Roy hadn't felt as though Amestris WAS home.

"Oh." It wasn't the most intelligent of responses, but his answer caught her off guard. It didn't seem like the Roy Mustang she had come to know was the type to run from anything. Perhaps she misunderstood what he meant.

"Was there trouble?"

"A whole lot of it. It's a boring story, though."

The smile on Roy's face at that moment should've been casual and easy, but it was still a difficult topic for him.

His expression didn't go unnoticed. It was clear there was far more to this story than he was letting on, but Faye decided it was best not to press.

"Boring trouble, huh? That's the worst kind. And then you got dropped into the middle of a bunch of crazy instead. Life could do better at finding middle ground."

"True, but I think I'd actually complain if it was slower."

Or he wouldn't, but hey: semantics. And optimism never hurt.
