In truth, it had only been about three months at best. Three months in which time had raced by her, and so much had happened. Mulan looked up at the sky as it filled with the brightly colored lanterns. They were so beautiful to look at, but when she was reminded what they represented, it filled her with a great sadness.
She looked down at the one she held in one hand, not having go of it as of yet. In her other, she carried his sword.
Shang.
It had been a while since she had visited the grave she had dug him, out in the desert. She would have to visit him soon.]

It was made worse when she considered, that much like the one she was sending up now, some of them could represent much more than one person.]

Good evening. [ He doesn't say more, turning his attention back to the lanterns. He makes the sign of the cross, honestly Allen's not sure how much faith he has in God anymore, but it feels appropriate. ]

And given how long it's been here, Naomi could have been one of that number in different circumstances--not because of the war, but because of her own mistakes. It's a sobering thought.
There are many lanterns, and many souls. She's willing to do what she can for them.]

His demeanor was pretty somber compared to how the boy usually was. Shaking his head to clear it he plasters a grin on his face when he spots the familiar light hair.]
Naomi!

[And she although she doesn't smile when she sees him, she does atop and give Ash an approving nod.]

She had returned to the alcove where she had confessed to Karkat to finish cleaning up. The table was still there--she hadn't wanted to lug it back up to her room in daylight and get questions--and the benches were still decorated with vines. Most of the surrounding walls had been washed away, but there was still a small part of a detailed chalk drawing of a particular troll's hive. She had stopped her cleaning once the lanterns started to appear, and just sat down to watch them in awe.]
