Neal is not ready to be redeemed yet. It's something I've been thinking about, and I will probably write about it for the Confab one of these days. I love Neal, but I expect that he will always, always be on the wrong side of the law. ;-)
I don't know that Peter is shocked that he was put on leave; I think that perhaps there was some clever editing done right there.
As for the blonde woman, I don't know who that is. I'm excited to find out! :-)
And just in general, Peter looks like he's a total BAMF next season, albeit an angsty one.
I'm so in love with his character. I like him being angsty. \o/ I want much angsty fic about him. -grin-

And djskdjkadjks, ditto on angsty Peter. As evidenced by my fic "to do" list being dominated by stories where I essentially tear him apart psychologically and/or physically. XD

I see what you mean about the conversation with Neal. But it's also possible that someone is listening in and Neal is playing "bad con artist" for Peter's sake! Or maybe he's in a state of gloom. There are many possibilities. :D
