Acne is Back

Fair warning. This is going to be disgusting. I'm going into a detailed description of acne issues because I'm hoping that maybe someone out there that reads this or comes across this or whatever will see it and somehow divine providence will make it that they have the magic answer to all my skin problems. Not likely, but I will never know until ( Read more... )

My skin is really oily without treatment though... so I'm stumped. Thanks for the suggestion! I just wish I was one of those people that could use Neutrogena and wash all their problems away. Not so much luck for this kid. I just need a top job as the CEO of a Fortune 500 company so I can afford the amount of money it takes to support my body's upkeep.

Accutane is like this huge looming roadblock hovering over me... every corner I turn it's there. I was going to do it, but it's really dangerous for women my age. You kind of have to do it when you're a teenager, otherwise it can be really harmful from what I've read. Men have less of a problem with it... *sigh*.... I'm not sure I want to sacrifice my liver and kidneys for clear skin. It's also a $600 investment sometimes sometimes even with insurance. I may just be stuck riding it out until I can find a more short term solution. It also may go away when I stop using my medication this july. I will also have to stop that when insurance runs out, which isn't a bad thing. I've really had enough of being on stimulants all the freaking time. They're supper hard on my system and may have something to do with what's going on with my skin.

Yeah... I've been using castile soap, which is soap sans soap. It's got tea tree oil in it, but even that feels pretty harsh sometimes. I actually had some good luck using the baking soda last night. My skin likes me right now, which is amazing. I think I'll have to keep trying it. AND IT'S CHEAP! Unfortunately... this will be another 2 month miracle cure and then it's back to the drawing board.... maybe then I'll start trying the oil. There's a skin care line at the local co-op that works with the idea of oil cleansing, but the whole process is about $60 and each bottle only holds about $120. And I still need money for food. My overall dilemma:

Reconcile the two opposing categories:

My wallet.

My acne.

I'm on the hunt to see if there's something I can do that doesn't leave one hurting. It's kind of like trying to find the Holy Grail... or good high heels.

Interesting.. I'll have to check that out with my Dr. when I go home - and I'll try the generic rather than Yasmin. I was on Yasmin low for a bit and holy cow.... it turned me into a vicious, raging, hormonal beastress with an appetite for human ego. It was why I switched to the shot. No extra hormone to make me go crazy. Do you know if Orthotrycyclin Low works as well? That one didn't give me the crazies near so badly.

So far, accutane still seems to be the best and only option. Other than that, it looks like I'm facing the dragon with a cocktail skewer. Thanks though!
