Rose had been told by several people to seek more authoritative help through the journals, especially when faced with her odd appearance and complete incoherency.

Apart from the fact that she seemed to be speaking another language, that the colour of her skin had turned to a dark grey and the ever-present trailing darkness that emanated from her skin, she felt fine. Still, Maka's comment about her soul having turned dark was unsettling, and whether it was a curse or not was beyond her - no matter how interesting it was. She couldn't find any mention of such a thing in any of her books - not even the ones she had philandered from more dubious sources in her spare time.

Knocking on the door to the hospital wing, she waited patiently for a reply.

"Come in," Ludwig said, resigned to more unusual cases. Still, after Ivan's heart falling out, he was pretty sure nothing could surprise him anymore.

Rose opened the door and greeted Ludwig with a cheery "Houd aa'gyrtmiin, Jjir", letting herself into the hospital wing. She sat herself down on one of the beds, trailing dark smoke behind her.

Ludwig's eyes narrowed. Bits of that made a kind of sense, and context and years of learning foreign languages by reading, listening, and sheer tenacity told him it was some sort of greeting, probably with a "sir" attached.

He moved to stand next to Rose, falling naturally in a military parade rest. "Let me guess - this all happened suddenly with no apparent cause." And he was supposed to do something about it. To think, he'd said he was bored.

Rose smiled (a little too cheerfully) and nodded, adding a little more garbled language in a blithely half-hearted attempt to explain her situation. She knew full well that whatever was affecting her was highly unusual (and that much of what she said was generally incomprehensible) but she didn't really mind - the condition was rather self-evident and people did seem to know what she was talking about naturally if they didn't think too hard about it.

He nodded along, getting the gist of it. Ludwig propped his chin up on his palm and thought about possible cures. This wasn't an injury he could heal with a spell, or a transfiguration gone wrong. Translation spells weren't really intended for long-term use, and though there were a few cosmetic charms that Rose could use to disguise her unusual appearance, they wouldn't actually change what she looked like, only how others saw her. He took some notes on what she said and his own observations, and put the notes aside to look her in the eyes.

"This is a very unusual outcome, but it's been a very unusual weekend. I would like you to stay in the Hospital Wing for the night so I can make sure your condition does not worsen."

Rose looked a little disappointed with the outcome of the diagnosis, but it was only to be expected - she hadn't found anything in any books in the short time it took for the librarian to kick her out for smoking up the shelves, so it had been a bit of a stretch.

She sighed a little and complained vaguely about the beds being uncomfortable and that she didn't really feel unwell besides the linguistic and cosmetic differences, but she supposed that being monitored was more important than any of that...

"Have you noticed anything changing the amount of smoke? Perhaps emotions, or food...?" he asked curiously. Might as well get at much information as possible.

She paused a moment, giving it some thought before shaking her head. "Hnurb a'abliply flub. Obly gryp b'whurr nuggld."

Perhaps she would monitor this further - her agitation might have a certain effect on the amount of smoke she produced, but generally it seemed to be streaming out of her at a fairly steady pace.

He nodded along, because that made as much sense as anything else about this situation. "Well, please keep track of it. I do not like the looks of this at all." Hopefully it would clear up on its own, because he really wasn't sure where to start. "Though...if it's not causing you any discomfort, except the difficulty in being understood, then I suppose you could sleep in your dorm after all. Just come by if anything changes, I'll keep researching," he said dubiously.
