tomatoes dont last long in this house. my folks slice them, mix with sliced red onion and sit to maranade in a vinegrette. its their fav side dish. its like every other day is a run to the farmers market for more tomatoes

I love a nice tomatoe sandwich, with a multigrain bread. Unfortunatly these are my roommates tomatoes and not mine.

hmm pity, all we have is multigrain or rye bread in the house now that my dads diabetic. not a big sacrifice and the new recipes rock. that beercan chiken was great! who knew chicken could be that moist.
ah well scrounge up some change and go buy some tomatoes

I think the magic temperature for the taste thing with tomatoes is 50 degrees. You definitely don't want to keep them in a bag unless you want them to ripen, and keep ripening. The gas they give off gets trapped in the bag and then they over ripen and you get mush in a bag.

Unless I'm going to use a tomatoe right away I keep them in the fridge. Most resturants do because it's the only cost effective way to store them.
