How are you a fan of "The True Meaning of Smekday" and I did not know this?!?

There is almost no fic for it at all-- two of the ones I know of are mine, and I'm sure about 50% of all the fic was somehow instigated by jadelennox, who is the only person I know of who loves that book as much as me. :)

*off to read poem*

ETA: Hahahaha! I spoke too soon, since that ficlet was by jadelennox. I should have known. :D

That book is frigging magic, man. Actually I need to get my hands on a better copy, because the one I have is ARC and all of the illustrations are missing from the second half, which is pretty tragic, but even so it's one of my favorite YA books.

I dunno, for me that book is so perfect in and of itself that I don't feel any need for fanfic (some fandoms are just like that for me), but I was linked to that poem through one of thefourthvine's rec sets and I just had to give it a try.

Oh, me too. For most books, actually, I don't feel as if fanfic is needed, and I'm always surprised when those requests show up on Yuletide.

The first of the Smekday fics I wrote was for a Gen Fic Battle challenge, and fox1013 (one of Jade's friends) had Smekday stuff in the prompts. I didn't intend to write it, but sometimes that happens. The second was at the request of an LJ user who masquerades as the Boov, and wanted stories for entertainment. So again... sometimes these things just happen. ;)

I love that book-- I checked it out for my son, who refused to read it until I'd laughed myself sick over it and couldn't put it down. Eventually, I strong-armed the whole family into reading it. Christopher loved it as much as I did, my husband enjoyed it, and my daughter thought it was pretty okay.

I've only convinced one LJ adult to read it since, but she loved it too!

Fanfic happens that way sometimes. One of the many reasons it's awesome.

I got my mom to read it and she adored it. There are reasons my mom and I get along so well.
