When Joshua tells Sam about the faith healer, he knows better than to not investigate, but he remains silent as he writes down the information, ignoring his father’s voice, gruff in the back of his mind.
He piles Dean into the car, letting him believe they’re going to a doctor. Dean would ask questions, insist on answers, and not get better.
When they find out about the reaper, Sam apologizes but only half means it.
And maybe this is one more thing to feel guilty about, to wrestle with his conscious over at night, but he’s not sorry Dean’s alive.
