Poll crunch crunch nom slurp

Sorry, I know I'm all obsessed with food. I genuinely want to know, though! Mmm, food.

I, for one, am enjoying a nice bowl of Kashi Go Lean Crunch! Honey Almond Flax with unsweetened vanilla rice milk for breakfast.

Food is a grand obsession.

6-8 apples
1/2 tsp assorted spices (I like equal parts ground ginger, cardamom and cinnamon, with a wee pinch of white pepper)
1 orange, washed
1/4 cup water
1-2 tbsp chopped candied ginger
1 ceramic baking pan

Sprinkle the spices and ginger over the bottom of the baking pan. Peel the zest off the orange in a long strip and add to the baking pan. Peel the pith off the orange and discard. Place the denuded orange in the fridge.

Peel, core, and roughly chop the apples. Place them in the baking pan. Pour over the water.

Place the baking pan in the oven. Turn it on to 400 degrees.

Let the apples bake for 1 hour. Meanwhile, remove the orange from the fridge and eat it.

After 1 hour, stir the apples and bake them 30 minutes to an hour longer, until they are disintegrating but still retain some chunks.

Cool and eat with yogurt, serve with pork chops, use as pie filling, etc. Even red delicious apples taste good cooked this way; good apples, like yellow delicious or jonathans, taste awesome.

Ohhhh my HEAVENS! This just sounds lovely. Orange zest! Fantastic. Also, I'm pretty sure this may be the only recipe I've ever read that includes the word "denuded," so extra props for that, haha.

The ONLY problem is that I'm going to have to save this for a rainy day, because it's been so hot here this week I can't even imagine turning my oven on to 400 for an hour, haha.

Also, re: your poll response, I should totally make zucchini bread. I've been seeing beautiful zucchini all over the place but I couldn't really think of anything to do with it. Yum!
