I have more important things to be doing (why hello, unwritten history paper due tomorrow morning! I will be with you in a minute), but I was just updating my fic Master List with my last couple of fics and it got me thinking a little ( Read more... )

They are completely ridiculous, right? And that is only a SMALL SAMPLING.

But I would still love to hear your comments! I think you are one of the smartest, most thoughtful people on my flist, quite frankly. :-)

By your kind words you have 1)saved my day from being a complete shitpile crowned with only one good thing and 2) inspired me to work on continuing to deserve them. *hugs you tightly*

My thoughts on het and femslash have boiled down to that women are interesting just like men are -- I don't actually see the genres as so removed from each other as all that. They're all about people dealing with sexual and/or romantic relationships.

(That paper is not going to write itself.)

I think we just move on, or move around, or move to different areas of writing. You get attached to writing one thing and something new and shiny comes along, so you write a lot of that. You find things that you are comfortable with, things that you enjoy writing. I think it just happens. It's a natural process.

Ahhh, motherfuck, I just wrote this really dorky, long comment and then the network kicked me off and I lost it. Basically:

(That paper is not going to write itself.)

Sigh! :-(

The way that you talk about writing is really exciting to me, somehow. It makes me want to go write right now (except not an essay), just to explore what I write and how I write and all the different things I can create with words like magic. I think I'm getting to the point where I do start to feel like I have something of a writing style and patterns in my writing, and that kind of leads me to feel like I'm starting to have a writing VOICE, which is just... an exciting thing to have. And an exciting way to feel.

Okay, history girl. I'm going to go focus on these slave revolts now. I swear! But I have been distracted a lot lately by thoughts of fiction writing... Maybe it's all the NaNo talk! I don't know.

Ugh. I hate when that happens. Or even when LJ acts like a bitch and is like LOL, you wanted to comment, I don't think so.

Aww! Yay! I love talking about writing and all of this stuff. It's so exciting to me. I think the exciting feeling about writing is really the best part. When you're happy writing something, whatever it is, fandom/het/slash/gen whatever. But actually putting sentences together and creating something is just amazing. And playing around with writing to find your voice is so much fun. And fantastic that you feel that way. :)

Go knock those slave revolts out and then you can have some writing fun time!
