for a moment there, I thought it was a drabble which introduced a third sibling to Alan's brood. (not unknown, granted; I've committed that myself)

It is! I was trying really really hard not to give it away before the ending, but I did realize that might mean sacrificing clarity. :-/ I'm glad you got it!

(And introducing a third--or, like, FIFTH--sibling to the family is definitely not something I would put past me! Haha.)

I've got my plot pretty solid. I'm about a third of the way through. I'm basically starting at the top of season 2 and sticking to cannon as close as I can.
