slightly late year in review

2013 seems to have been an atrocity for a lot of people, but for me it's been pretty great. I definitely accomplished my new year's resolution of having more sex, though the coffee table I broke on new years day was to be the only coffee table I would break all year ( Read more... )

That does sound like a good year! Sorry about the contests, ugh. But there are probably easier ways of getting your stuff read/seen.heard than trying to be the one and only winner of a contest, ya know?

I was eyeing my art supplies today ... might you want some company during drawing or painting time? What kind of stuff do you draw/paint?

I'm going to submit to Pittsburgh Playwrights next, but maybe after January, as I always expect there to be a new year's resolution rush (I know my new year's resolution is always to get whatever published). The one that won was the one that I kind of thought would; it definitely fits the theme better, though Heidi says mine was better than everyone else's by a mile, and I appreciate her opinion as she's even more of a snob than I am and only reads serious literature like Chekov and Dostoyevsky. I've liked two out of three plays I saw by Throughline a lot, but the other one was the worst play I have ever seen and I'm baffled that anyone would actually put it on. The acting was fine that play itself was unbelievably terrible. They're all volunteers so I think I might do better with a more professional company. If I don't get accepted by Pittsburgh Playwrights I'll probably have to look at companies in other cities.

I like contests because even if I don't win there is a deadline which forces me to finish something. Cocktails in ( ... )

Ah it's been so long since anyone shared like that on lj, just like the good old days. Glad it was such a big year for you, bummer about the contest(s). Things are about to get really busy for me but hopefully we'll get to hang out in '14 a little.

I miss livejournal. I still think it's the best 'social networking platform' for actual communication, though Tumblr with it's constant stream of pretty pictures is certainly more relaxing. For some reason I am more nervous about talking about my artistic progress than my sex life. I know you're supper busy with the baby and everything, but it would be nice to see you.

I'm glad you're still hanging around. Since I have two tiny gentlemen babies now, I often wish we were still close soi could commission you to do their wardrobe.

It is likely that even if we were in the same city they would outgrow anything before it was finished, though I probably do have some sweatervests lying around that would best fit a seven year old, if either one of us can wait that long.

I'm glad to see you posting still on lj! Your post, like someone else already mentioned, reminded me of the old days of lj, so I'm feeling very nostalgic right now.

Sooo...glad to see you've had a wonderful year in many aspects of your life! I also used to do painting and drawing, like a decade ago, so I'm excited (and slightly jealous) for you for starting these skills up again. Can't wait to see what you produce, hope you post pictures!

I laughed to see that your accomplishment for 2014 was drinking Prosecco :D I had 3 of these at the New Years Eve party (20s theme) I was at in Germany:

For a minute I thought you meant three bottles of Prosecco, but I guess you probably meant three glasses. (I can drink a whole bottle and then still want more, but...) I usually drink Prosecco or Cava since they're cheaper than good Champagne and tastier than cheap Champagne, but I don't suppose that's true in France.

I guess the Germans probably just drank beer in the twenties too?
