Idle question.

When...

Badger floats above your opponent and drips caustic juice on it.

...what is he actually doing, in terms of enemy stats or what have you? Or is it just there for effect?

familiars

That's the best thing about the GPoaS. It reduces the levels of your foes. It's kinda akin to a disco-face-stab... once it happens enough times, the monster will be unable to hit you.

And by "levels" I mean "power". The stats you get at the end of the battle are the same independent of whether or not caustic juice has dropped.

Excellent, smithers!

(Does it work on the NS? Second iteration? 'cause I could really use a little help there. heh.)

Indeed it does, and I find it very helpful, although it can backfire, too.

I forget the numbers, exactly, but some of my clannies have run tests on the effects level depletion has on the Naughty Sorceress forms. There are actually different degrees of level depletion--which is to say, a Wussiness Potion and a Plot Hole and a Ghost Pickle do the same thing, but a Plot Hole is stronger. However, when the Sorceress hits a certain number of level-depletions, she does the "shimmering level-up" thing. The practical effect? Pickles are great against her, but if it drips too many times, she'll restore herself to full power (not full health--that's the vial, not the shimmering). Some people don't like to take that chance, and use other familiars that don't level-deplete so that they can have control over the level depletion; for me personally, I love my Ghost Pickle on a Stick for the Sorceress and have only recently got a Dodecapede because Chrono Mage was going to kill me otherwise. :-)
