Any advice for a beginner? I can only play in the mornings, too busy with my husband and horses after work, and can't access it at work. I'm a level 5 pastamancer. No clue how I got to that point as it seems I adventure in basic places all the time :) Actually, it seems like I do the same thing every morning. I have not been to chat, my computer ( Read more... )

Visit the Council on the Town after every time you level up, also visit your class guild (as a PM, yours would be in the Right Side of the Tracks). Just... test out each area as it becomes available to you.

I'm not going to give you spoilers, but if you look at the tags available on the community front page, you can get just about every spoiler possible.

Not looking for spoilers, just basic info :)

Thanks, will make a note to visit the council. Can't say I've been there yet.

When I first started playing, I had no clue what I was doing either. I just rabidly adventured everywhere as I found a new place to go, most of the time getting horribly beaten up and wasting my 40 turns. I didn't even find out you could EAT until like two weeks into it, mainly because initially I wasn't entirely interested in actually playing the game, but instead just going through the turns.

I remember spending A LOT of time in the Knob. For no reason, heh.

Have you tried joining a clan? That can be very helpful.

My advice to you is to burn off a few days adventuring in the Limerick Dungeon. It's a good place to adventure with no risk for moderate stat gains at low levels.

Make sure you start using a familiar as soon as you find one and can! I for some reason avoided them at first - I am easily confused, so learn from my errors!

Also don't forget to check your inventory now and then and see if you can be wearing better pants/hat/weapon that you got in combat and didn't notice (or think of as a hat or whatever).

Right now I have the "best" I have. And extras of lower levels that I don't know what to do with. I haven't come across any familiars yet :(

You get access to familiar-bearing areas if you visit the council as you level up :)

The council will help you do something that will get you your first familiar. You'll need to buy somethng in the Market (in Market Square) before you can make use if your familiar. And you can hit "sell stuff" to get rid of duplicate items, which can help you earn meat to buy things at the market.

level 5 is right at the end of monotony... from pretty much now on the game ALWAYS has some challenge awaiting completion (5- a certain string of events I wont tell you about is my favorite part of the game)...

but as someone above said, visit the council of loathing and your clan guild as often as you level up, they are quite keen to help :)
