Title: The List (With Pictures!)

Notes: This is dedicated to spurnd, and is a lame excuse to make her write more Donut porn. I also wanted to draw Kohane-chan, because this comm needs more KOHANE-LOVE, PLEASE. (Also, I offer my firstborn to Delurianne for the beta).
Summary: Doumeki has a list, with pictures. He’s checking it twice, he’s gonna find out if Watanuki’s naughty or nice! Stuff happens.
Okay.
Like I said, Doumeki Shizuka has a list. It’s quite lengthy, written on a long, clean sheet of paper. The list is detailed and outlined with letters and Roman Numerals. That sort of list.
Since Shizuka keeps every single thing to himself-memories, secrets, unwritten diary entries he’d rather forget-the list is abstract, untouchable. It’s all in his head. He brings out the list when he discovers something new, jots down notes, and then shoves it back in the safe he calls his brain. Shizuka spends more time mentally writing things; that’s why he finds it unnecessary to move his mouth to speak.
The list is headed by big, bold, in-your-face words: HIS SMILE.
‘HIS’ being the boy named Watanuki Kimihiro, who seems to occupy a large portion of Shizuka’s Priority List. But we won’t talk about the Priority List today-the one in the spotlight is the His Smile List, an almost-perfect summary of Watanuki Kimihiro’s assortment of smiles and whom they are mostly directed at.
(Something from the back of his head tells him that the list should also be called the Obsessed Stalker Files, but I digress.)
I managed to dig through his records. Here is a sample of the list in discussion-I had to remove other parts. I’ll explain later. Here goes!
HIS SMILE (List)
A. EVERYDAY PEOPLE
I. Doumeki Shizuka
Watanuki-sama will never smile at that good-for-nothing cretin Doumeki Shizuka. This is simply a fact of the universe. Hah! (Direct quotation from Kimihiro himself)
II. Kunogi Himawari
a. Kimihiro is always happy with Himawari around. He twirls and dances and flails about his person when they meet during lunch. An amusing array of shiny things like hearts, sparkles, and bubbles appear while he demonstrates his unique spinning abilities. Shizuka suspects he does this to entertain her.
b. Kimihiro’s smiles are very wide; they manage to reach his ears. Shizuka thinks they must be painful.
c. Kimihiro never runs out of smiles for “Himawari-chan”. He probably has an arsenal of ‘em hidden somewhere. Or something.
III. Ichihara Yuuko
a. Kimihiro manages to smile when the Dimension Witch compliments his cooking, only to disappear within seconds after she demands more alcohol.
b. However, things change when he is drunk. Even Kimihiro laughs and jokes with Yuuko and Mokona. On the other hand, he bites Shizuka’s knees and sobs like an upset baby under the influence, meaning…
c. No actual, genuine smiles are directed at Shizuka at all. Even when he’s drunk (read I - Doumeki Shizuka).
B. SPECIAL OTHERS
I. The Little Fox From The Oden Shop
a. Kimihiro and the Little Fox see each other very rarely, but already they have formed a special bond.
b. Personally, Shizuka believes Kimihiro’s most beautiful smiles are reserved for the Little Fox and Kohane-chan (See B, II - Kohane-chan below).
c. His smile is blinding, but worth the risk nonetheless.
II. Kohane-chan
a. Kohane-chan is a quiet and straightforward little girl (kind of reminds Shizuka of, well, Shizuka), but Kimihiro never fails to make her face light up in a gentle smile. Making her happy is obviously the boy’s goal right now, Shizuka notes.
b. See B, I - Little Fox
III. The Transparent Woman
Shizuka prefers not to think too deeply about this being; nevertheless, she is still included in the List for reasons he does not wish to explore at the moment.
IV. Doumeki Haruka
a. Totally unfair
a. Shizuka wants to talk to his grandfather, because he truly misses him, and he wants to ask, HOW?
b. No, seriously. How does he do it?
V. Mugetsu
a. Mugetsu is just as overprotective and loving as Doumeki Shizuka, so Kimihiro is very grateful.
b. The difference is, Mugetsu has permission to roam around the skin underneath Kimihiro's clothes, while Shizuka can't. Just because he's small and furry. And cute.
VI. Zashiki Warashi
a. This being is apparently in love with Kimihiro's beautiful smiles, and is willing to do anything for him.
b. Surprisingly, Shizuka is very similar to the beings in this category. But there are no smiles for him!
VII. Others
Meaning: Other friendly creatures they’ve encountered over the months of running around and doing errands for Yuuko, etc.

Kimihiro is an angel to everyone he meets. He beams sincerely, offers help without hesitation, and is Very Polite, Oh Yes. A walking paradox, when you think about it.
Shizuka does not really know why he is quite addicted attracted to fond of Kimihiro and his smiles. Perhaps because he has seen them so many times; they are given to the weirdest of people, the scariest of creatures, but never at him. Maybe that’s where the fascination begins.
Shizuka is crazy, and he knows it. This winding, fucked-up game of what if, and he enjoys it like a true masochist.
The list was originally longer, but recently, a certain incident posed a threat to its reliability and cohesiveness. This is what happened: Shizuka woke up, and his head hurt like hell, and his bandaged arm was sticky with blood. Blood.
Blood that was also on Kimihiro’s clothes. Shizuka looked at the kneeling boy beside him.
“You idiot,” said Kimihiro, and Shizuka could’ve sworn that those were tears on his eyes, but it didn’t matter because he was smiling, he fucking smiled-
And Shizuka did not know what to do.
Watanuki Kimihiro smiled at him, and he did not know what to do.
