LOL! Well, I should have the final (technically the first) story in this arc finished in a few days! ;)

I just saw this, saving it to read for a treat tonight after I get done the actual work, but I have to say that I'm so thrilled to see another Hornsby fan. Saw the title and the song jumped in my head, but I thought, "oh, it's probably the book" and was just so happy to see that it was Bruce. Promise I'll post something more constructive after I read it, but this made my night already.

**waves at a fellow Bruce Hornsby fan**

Nice to hear from you! Yeah, I, too, love his music. This song is one of my favourites, and it kinda struck a chord with me about Sheppard. Hence the fic's title. ;)

I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to get back to your story. It's a hard series to read but a good one, and I really hope that John and Rodney can find there way back. I'm really getting a lose one/lose the other feel from them in your writing. I have to say that the drowning is very poignant for me, especially the part about John having to watch and then almost having him literally drift away on the current on the way home. I've almost drowned twice in my life and still can't swim, so these images are very strong for me.

Looking forward to more if it comes to you, I know the difficulties with muses and real life.

Hi, and thanks so much for this note! Ironically, it stirred up two sets of emotion in me - I'm really happy that the imagery moved you in some way, though at the same time I'm sorry that they called up some difficult memories for you. Drowning is one of those things that terrifies me, and I try to deal with such things by writing about them; but, yeah, I definitely get where you're coming from.

Hopefully, some day soon, I'll get the urge to write more, as this isn't where I'd planned to leave things with the guys! ;)

Thanks again, and hugs, Soraya ;)

Oh no, I shouldn't have read this! It's got me all teary-eyed...

I know it's going to be cliche if I ask for a happy ending ... that is, if you will write another bit...

Please, don't let Rodney die in a catatonic state, or even worse, let his brilliant mind die first!

Apart from the whole making me sad bit, I really like your writing and style - very descriptive, intriguing and absorbing. I like stories from John's POV because I really don't know much about his character.

Great work!

Thanks so much for this, and here, have a {{{hug}}} (love your icon, btw!)

And there's nothing wrong with a nice happy ending, though I'm just not sure that's where this is going. But, no, this is definitely not the end of this series, and hopefully will have more in the coming months.

Thanks again, and hugs, Soraya ;)

Bloody hell that's some good writing. All of it- I just read the original story (to which I thought, "Hey- this sounds like Abyss". Then you said the idea was taken- from Abyss *sheepish grin* ) and both sequals are just so heart aching and so good. I hope you continue with more :D

Thanks very much for this - it's much appreciated, and I'm really glad you liked it! Funny thing about the original story is that it really was the set up I had in my mind months ago when writing Once. Never actually planned to explicitly articulate it in writing as I wanted the series to focus on the aftermath of loss and how that changes people. It just kept nagging at me, and basically I had to write it down just to get it out of my head so that I could move onto something else! LOL!!

Anyway, I'm not finished with this series yet, and hope to have more in the coming months. Thanks again, and hugs, Soraya ;)
