Morbid human curiosity. That's another reason why they keep tossing reality shows out there. My master's thesis was over the exhibition of ethnic women at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, and some of it discusses how human beings are fascinated with voyeurism. Mundane everyday activities become fascinating performances, and anything laced with sexuality becomes a peeping-tom guilty pleasure. It also appeals to natural human noseyness: a desire to see if others are just like ourselves or, as we may hope, worse off so that we feel better about ourselves

I hadn't thought about the trendy thing. I really hope this trend dies soon. These reality shows just keep getting more and more depraived.
