I've had fax machines call me before. It's pretty annoying, but usually it's an annoyance that lasta for about an hour or so. Fax machines will call, and if they fail, try about 2-3 more times and then give up. Today I had been receiving calls from a fax machine incessantly

That kind of stuff drives me batshit insane. Someone has been trying to fax something to my landline number at home for the past few weeks, on and off. At least you had the resources to print out the fax and tell them to stop bugging you :(

Today I was desperate. >_< Really sometimes it would ring both lines at the same time. *stab* As for you, maybe investige getting a cheap fax machine just so you can finally find out who's faxing you. Or borrow one from somebody.

I think there are a couple programs to let computers with 56k modems recieve faxes as well. Can't say I know of any, though. It's of no use to me, but something to look for.

Can you transfer calls? That's what I do... transfer the call to something that IS a fax machine. It works pretty damned well! But... for ours... I've found it works ONLY if you don't disconnect until the other machine actually pics up and starts sqeeling back at it. If you can't transfer calls, try speaking loud and clear saying that they've reached the wrong number and what number to call. That often works, too, as most fax machines have a quiet, but at least existant, speaker.
