Finally turned in my Change of Major paperwork today. It only took about 15 minutes for everything and it makes me wonder why I didn't do it soon before I failed 4 classes that I have to retake (both of which I'm retaking during the spring and summer, one of them I don't need anyway ( Read more... )

I'm not in college obviously, but it seems like the person in the classes would know best. Your mom should just deal. I actually subscribed to a community on LJ here about college stuff and was given some amazing advice: It's not the degree you have --it's likely you'll have an entry-level position wherever you go; it's the contacts you make in the corporate world and your track record with the companies you work with.
Yeah, a psych degree wont get you into a psych career without further schooling, but any and all liberal arts degrees, I figure are very valuable in fields that arent engineering. It's all about pleasing the people, and a liberal arts degree teaches you to communicate.. it doesnt matter how much you know unless you can write it, right?

GOOD LUCK. <3 This is your life; Mama needs to recognize and embrace this. You'll be successful in whatever you do.

Oh yeah... I should have gone to a college life thing. As many communities as they have on LJ.

Yeah. She's slowly getting. I think it's because her mom kind of did the same to her. She wanted to major in French, but her mom told her that was not a good idea, so I think it just stuck with her. I think she's okay with it since it saves her money. The economy is stressing her out so

Thank you so much. I really needed your words of encouragement. =)

We are always are own worst critics. *cliche for a reason. =P

I dont know what year you are in university, so it may be too late, but I'm already having similar conversations with Daddy. If I get into the school I -reallyreally- want to go to, which happens to have an extravagant price tag, I've promised him to major in something "practical" (psych with intention to pursue a masters later)and something that I really want to learn about (English literature). He understands that squashing my desire to learn what -I- want to learn would be detrimental to someone with my kind of work ethic, so I'll probably end up double majoring. Creative writing and psych probably dont share a lot of similar courses, but English and Psych do, since they're both liberal arts degrees. If you think it's doable... I would go for it. You'll only go through this once (I'd imagine), and you should do what YOU want. =)
