Regulus-Snape theory

So this theory came to me tonight (in the shower, of course, where I get all my best ideas), and I'm probably not the first to come up with it....If you go with the idea that there was something between Regulus and Snape (friendship, romance, whatever), might it not make sense that it was Regulus who got Snape into the Death Eaters, rather than

AWESOME theory. I have gone through so many permutations in my head of who got who into the DEs - because no one joins by accident, people! - but I have never thought of this. In my latest story, which is Regulus gen fic, actually, the DEs are recruiting Regulus independently of Snape. That's about as close as I've come to the idea that Regulus was Snape's path in.

I've always assumed it was Lucius who recruited Snape. Before we knew about Snape's background, I was writing a Severus-as-first-year fic in which 5th-year!Lucius recognizes Snape's potential and befriends him.

But I keep thinking about how much lovely angst there would be for Snape in the RPG if Regulus showed up alive (hey, everyone else is, why not him, too???), and coming up with scenarios for them, and I guess it drifted into that theory. Which I thought was so cool I had to show it off. XD
